My baby, who was born on the 7th March, cut his first tooth last night and has been ready unsettled. I didn't read the bottle and gave him 5ml instead of 2.5ml.
He is around 10.5kg.
Shall I take him to A&E?

If he’s showing signs e.g. unresponsive or not drinking or eating take to A&E but if he’s still responding well he will be ok

baba might be sleepy but he will be okay x

I’d ring 111 just to double check, normally it’s 2 doses in 24h although should be few hours apart

Not a doctor, so by all means seek medical advice if you’re concerned.
However, usually it’s the maximum dosage within 24h that matters most, and as long as you don’t exceed that then baby will be fine.

Ring 111 for advice if all okay unless his showing signs of needing A and E x

I have done this myself and called 111 but they said he will be ok to have a little more than he’s supposed too. But just keep an eye on him. As long as he’s responsive, and alert. Xx
Thanks, guys. I can't believe I could be so careless! I have a 2 year old, and his molars are cutting. I feel like such an idiot

They can have 5ml from one year old anyway so it’s not going to make a huge difference. Just give him some extra fluids and call 111 for your own peace of mind, but it’s actually pretty difficult to overdose on ibuprofen.

Please take him to an emergency room

I was going to say this also. Baby will be having the 5ml dose in a few months anyways. (I’ve also done this once with Calpol. The panic was real but baby was absolutely fine :-)) x

Or call a hotline

I really wouldn't worry. It's not like you gave him the whole bottle, plus he's a good weight. 😊
Thank you all so much for replying. My husband is doing the night shift tonight to give me a break. I'm hoping he is okay. x
