They apply pressure with their top lip to the blue bit and water will come out from between the blue and white parts, so they can sip it.
Remember to take the coloured part off the white bit when cleaning, as mould can grow otherwise!
And, worth mentioning that these cups encourage quite an unnatural drinking method/pattern (and jaw protrusion) so it’s normal for baby to not get the hang of it, and worth using this cup alongside other types, for good oral motor development.

Haha omg you're not an idiot at all, I literally could not work this cup out when I first got one for my eldest! Had to try it myself to figure it out.

But yes, agree with above post- deffo remove the blue silicone top to properly clean it all and prevent mould growing.

sorry to jump on this, do you literally just take the blue bit away from the white bit? We just got this so I want to make sure! Also, is it ok for this to be our out and about cup? I can’t handle the spills out and about but my baby uses a straw or open cup at home?

yeah, it pops off from the white bit if you pull it. Then you can clean it separately and reassemble.
I think that’s perfectly fine, your little one is getting practice at drinking from different cups and the best ones (from a developmental perspective) are the ones they’re using the most at home anyways. I would keep doing what you’re doing if it’s working for you and little one.

It took me three months to realise that I actually didn’t have to take off the blue thing 😭 good thing is my baby learned to drink from a cup since she drunk from it but the holes were open so she eventually got used to drinking with a bigger flow 😂
