Hi everyone I’m a children’s author, and I’m wondering what everyone takes into consideration the most when picking a book for their child.
Thank you any comments would be helpful

Probably the cover and general illustration.
Do you mean books you read to your child or independent reading books?
Book you read to you child

I like to read books that have learning opportunities. For example how to share or like the book “everyone poops” I like to teach as I read.

The illustration and the story usually. It’s a bonus if the story is enjoyable to read / makes us all laugh. I love the Dragon with the blazing bottom series because it’s so funny and the Albert Tortoise stories for the beautiful illustrations

Good illustrations and a good story. Or for the baby books learning opportunities so baby can learn real life words.

Meanings, good illustrations and if possible not too much to read or made up word, as once your child like a story, you have to read it over and over again. Example the "boy on top of the bed", nice story but a bit too long and too mamy made up words annoying lol
I usually go for books that would help me teach things to my son or help over come fears, like monsters under the bed
