This is for the mothers with toddlers that have speech delays.

No judgment do your children watch ms Rachel? Mine does. I read something this morning and want to see if it’s true.

Not anymore!! It’s brain rot! Milo loves ms Rachel but I just had enough of it so I stopped last weekend and switch to teletubies n Tweenies both things I loved when I was little. Within a week he’s gone from no words or babbling to being able to say ‘go’ ‘mama’ ‘more’ and he’s kind of got the hang of saying ‘all gone’ aswell. A WEEK! Never again is that woman going on my TV. He’s been under slt for a while and that’s made absolutely no difference but just changing tv program has its insane!

My girl has watched ms Rachel since she was a baby, she’s now 21 months and has learnt to say so much from watching her.

Nope we hate her in our household😂

My LB is developmentally delayed in many areas, including speech (June 2023 baby) but has never watched Ms Rachel / Cocomelon or similar. He enjoys dancing fruits & in the night garden but mostly listen to baby Einstein so gets his language acquisition from songs/stories and playtime we have. We don’t really have a lot of screen time here. Same at nursery, no screens at nursery and they’re doing everything they possibly can. All I get from his is “gagaga” which sounds a bit like a g/k for a duck noise and occasionally says mama when he’s sad (but doesn’t call me mama, I think it’s more a noise he makes) but that’s it. I know children who only talk now because of Ms Rachel and some that are further behind because of shows similar, it’s all dependent on the child. I’m intrigued though, what was it you read? X

Cocomelon

Have only put it on a few times but I find her so annoying! My little one is starting to stay the beginning of words or the sound of the word but not the actual full word weirdly. But I’m also intrigued to know what was read in regards to ms Rachel

The article I read did an extreme deep dive into programs such as ms Rachel which was named within the article stating that although it can be beneficial to a group of children 1-3 year olds it can also cause alot of problems with more children than it’s beneficial too leading to more physical and mental delays . Although the concept of such programs is a strong helper to the development it’s better for parents to watch without the children present and repeat in a way their child will better understand to avoid the delays as child tend to become more fixated on programs not taking in as much information as they would a person being physically in front of them. Programs such as ms Rachel that are purely for development aren’t good for the brain development and other cartoons that aren’t specifically designed for this tend to be more beneficial.
