Does anyone have a weird rule when it comes to kids names and what sounds good to you?

For example I don't generally like names that the first and middle names have the same number of syllables. I need them to have a different number. The first can be 3 syllables so the middle has to have 1 or 2.

This is not to judge anyone's names. I just don't like the sound of them for my own kids. I also dislike my own name because it's Kylie Marie. Both names have two syllables and I really hate it. If my middle had 1 or 3 syllables I'd like it better

Not really, it’s more of a case by case basis for me, I think some combos work better than others depending on the actual name choice.

But I really like family names as middle names anyways so the meaning would outweigh the flow for me. I think the most important bit is that first and last name go well together as middle names are rarely used

Avatar

Not really to each their own. I personally don’t love “old school” names or even 90’s names. No thank you to William, Edward, Stephanie, Lauren. Just personal preference.

Avatar

I mean I don’t really care and don’t mean to offend but the thing that comes to mind for me is spelling. For example Leigh always feels very unnecessary.

Avatar

My only rule is that they are spelt properly and have no family names. I hated my name growing up because it's spelt "wrong" it absolutely did not make me feel unique, it made me feel left out when it came to school trips and I was one of about 3 people in class that couldn't buy anything personalised from the gift shop.

I don’t have a preference but oddly, both of my children have 2 syllable first names and 3 syllable middle names. And our last name is 4 syllables.

Avatar

Has to be uncommon and have a good meaning to it.

Avatar

Not really but I have worked in childcare for over 10 years so it was tough picking a name that didn’t remind me of a child I’d cared for!

Avatar

I would never pick names that start with vowels. There are some I love the sound of but won’t pick because it’s a vowel lol

Avatar

I like slightly uncommon names but not silly.
Both my children have 4 letter names, if I had another I'd use a 4 letter name again.

My daughter is Aoife which is (eefa) Irish as I have an Irish background but live in uk so most people struggle with it, if we were to have another girl it would be an Irish name again, if we had a boy we already had a name picked if our girl was a boy so would use that which is not Irish but still suits Aoife haha

Avatar

Just preferably not very common
And meaning is important to me
And… I want their names to compliment mine

Avatar

My first child has syllables in 3, 2, 1 order so first name and 2 middles
Second has 2, 1, 1
Not intentionally but I believe it sounds better to have long syllable name followed by a short.

Avatar

All my kids start with A. My oldest son has AD A for my dad and D for my mom. My second son.. is AA.. the second A is my dad's first name.. he had my last name at birth, but I changed his to their dad's last name to be nice. My fiance (not the boys' bio dad) chose her name, which was sweet as it's also an A. My dad's sons are all A's, so I wanted to keep that tradition.

Avatar

ughhh and you yourself have the cutest more uncommon name (in the U.S.) and I actually know a Brontë too!

Avatar

I do lol and they’re also a shepherd and a theologian very cool interesting person
I’ve never met a Braunwyn in person but that’s the vibes Brontë gives me

It’s cool to have a name that not EVERYONE has
My first and last my first and middle my first middle and last lol I’m the ONLY and I like that

lol my partner though 🤣 his name is Jordan Michael and he’s FAR from the only here in the states

Avatar

I did all A names for my kids.
So far we have Ace, Axel, and Alphonse.
Depending on the gender of this next baby, it’ll be either Aizen or Annabelle.
Also all our middle names have the pattern of honoring a family member.
So, we defiantly have a pattern in the names we choose.

Avatar

I don’t like when first, last, middle names end in the same vowel sound

Avatar

I don’t like when other people shorten my kids name or give a nickname that I didn’t agree to. Sounds weird but I didn’t know how much it would bother me until it started happening for myself daughter. Like if you don’t hear me referring to her as that name why would you just start calling her it? Or at least ask me if it’s ok or if we have a nickname we prefer and use? So now I’m thinking of names for my second and I’m struggling because I keep thinking of what people might call her, so some names I like but then decide I don’t because I don’t like the shortened or nickname version. I know it does t bother everyone but it has been hard for me 😂

Avatar

Long first and last with short middle or short first and last with long middle, I broke the rule with my last but It helps me when picked names

Avatar

And no rhyming of first and last for some reason it gives me the ick

Avatar

My little sisters spells out MARZ so we always called her Marzipan

Avatar

I understand that one. Everyone like to shorten my youngest child’s name to Alfie. I tell them they can call him Al as a nickname but we really don’t like the nick name Alfie. Full name is Alphonse.

Avatar

I liked mine to have different sounding endings 😅 Harley Dreama Emerald... And started with a different letter

Avatar

I really like Victorian names that are longer but can be shortened to something also cute (my daughter’s name is Clementine and I call her Clemmie and I looove the name Henrietta shortened to Etta)

Im absolutely shitting myself, me and my partner have been so carefull (we use condoms and he also pulls out) but im late on my period and i cant get to the shop for a few days due to no car and im thinking im possibly pregnant. When i was pregnant before the animals were different the dog became more protective of me and the cat hated me and always tried to bite me. and they have recently been the same. Im trying to think if i have any possible early symptoms so i can convince myself im not 😂 the only thing i have is feeling sick alot and nauseous lol.

Pregnancy after c section

I need advice I had a c section and my baby now is 7 months. We definitely want a second one, just not sure when it is safe to plan the second one. I would like a natural birth because we want more than two.
And I know for sure if the second one would be a c section then that's it, no more

Is this dress yes or a no?

We are going to Japan for 3 weeks in July and 13 of those days we are on a cruise. There is a bunch of formal nights and formal events and for some of them I’m doing a 80’s glam theme. I already got the dresses for those but I’m looking for some fun and fancy dresses that aren’t vintage also. I’ve been eyeing this particular dress for MONTHS. I kind of love it, but I think it might also be too weird 😆. What do you think?

Weight loss jabs

Is or has anyone been on wegovy or similar whilst also breast feeding? Did you find that it impacted your supply? Please no judgy comments. I'm aware the advice is avoid going on them but I've found out I'm prediabetic. I have pcos and hashimotos so losing weight is near impossible but I feel so awful having put on 10kg from my pre pregnancy weight.
