Weight gain

I'm 5ft 2, usually weigh in around 10stone, size 12-14. I'm 32 plus 3 today and after a visit to the hospital today I was told my baby is around 4lbs 2. I've gained at least 3 stone, if she is so tiny , is the rest fat? I am bigger 2nd pregnancy than first but shocked baby is so small. Can anybody relate? xx

I cannot relate but with my first pregnancy i was absolutely massive and swelled up a LOT. Every pregnancy is different and baby is still goimg to grow, if you have any concerns on the growth ask your midwife xx

I'm not concerned with the babys growth and nor are the doctors. It's my growth I'm concerned about, just ballooned loads 😔

Don't forget that you also have the placenta weight and lots of water weight too, not just the baby weight x

You need to adjust your expectations. You won't increase by the weight of baby alone.

The placenta weighs quite a bit, as does the amniotic fluid and all the extra water and blood you're going round your body. That's aside from any fat or muscle change.
