I've heard the benefits for early toilet training little ones (around 3-6 months old) but I don't know if I should go that route or wait with my son who is 2 months. We live with my parents and I have 2 brothers ages 4 and 5 still in diapers because they refuse to even try their potty chairs. I'm able to tell most of my babies signals when he needs to poop but I also work full time while my dad and fiance look after him. I have yet to have this discussion with anyone at home yet because I'm not sure what to do. I just want to try avoiding that level of refusal in the future...

Are you planning on moving anytime soon? If so I’d probably wait since you wouldn’t have bigger kids in diapers nearby

If you wait until they’re actually ready to potty train (2.5 years old give or take, could be sooner or later) you can have them trained in a week. Versus attempting so young…seems like a lot of work. 4 & 5 is not the norm to be in diapers unless they haven’t really put in the effort to train or there is a developmental delay.

my 5y/o brother is disabled and my 4y/o brother wants to follow in that he still uses diapers. He'll sit on the toilet and expect automatic reward for sitting but won't use and screams until Mom gives in to what he wants

I'm in this current lease until end of August 2025.
