I’m due my baby in Feb and am planning on exclusively pumping and was just wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks to help? How did you all begin a stash? Things like that really that will hopefully help make my journey easier and less stressful 😂

Pump every 3 hours - try let baby on too.. then pump x
Pump for 30 mins at first.. breast milk tea and lots of oats increases supply. Power pumping too xx

If you want to build a good milk supply, it’s important to pump every time the baby feeds. However, as a new mom, it can become overwhelming, so aim to pump every 2 hours—3 hours is fine occasionally. Make sure you don’t skip night pumps, as that’s when the “milk hormone” is at its peak.
Oats are believed to help with milk supply, so try incorporating them into your diet. Stay hydrated and consider drinking coconut water, adding coconut oil to smoothies, or using coconut milk in your tea. Some women find that their milk supply decreases when drinking breast milk tea containing fenugreek or fennel, but it’s worth trying if you’re interested.

Most importantly, make sure you’re using the correct flange size for your pump. Using the wrong size can prevent your breasts from emptying properly and cause discomfort or damage. In the first few days or even weeks, your nipples may get sore from all the pumping, so I recommend getting silver cups beforehand. I was hesitant because of the price, but they helped me a lot. I used to struggle with sore, cracked nipples, but not anymore.

correct flange size for your nipples*

I agree that getting the correct size flange is super helpful! You can buy a flange ruler from legendairy milk! I’d guess they are sold on Amazon too. But if you’re working with a lactation consultant, they should be able to measure you too.
I got the legendairy milk pump spray and I sprayed it on my pumps every single time I pumped. I exclusively pumped for about 16 months. It really helped prevent sore or damaged nipples. A little bit of the oil from the spray stayed on my nipples even after pumping so for me I didn’t have to use a nipple cream/balm. The silverettes are good to keep on hand just in case you do get some bleeding or soreness.
To be honest- for me, I didn’t notice any change in my supply whenever I’d incorporate supplements, oats, coconut water, etc. I tried soo many supplements. 🤦🏼♀️ I focused more on just eating enough and drinking enough water (ideally a balanced diet)and getting into a consistent routine with pumping with the right flange size as often as I could.

My baby was born small and the size of my Breast made it hard to feed her from my chest. My hospital was actually denying me a pump right away as they wanted me to try from the breast but I wasn’t producing any milk. My daughter was formula fed the first 4 days of her life. Afterwards,
I have been able to exclusively pump for her! So I would just be prepared for the scenario of formula feeding. One tip I wish I would have done was to bring my own bottle and pour the formula into it (I use Philips avent natural flow). The hospital bottles (mine had similac pro) nipples will have you thinking your baby can down an entire bottle in 2 minutes when in reality the nipples easily release milk and the spit up/gas is insane.
