When did you call your midwife/mat assess unit during labour?

Did you call when labour was really early/just starting or when contractions were every 5 mins or so?

I never called my midwife. I just called maternity ward and told them my waters have went and they told me to come straight away x

Makes sense! Hope everything went smoothly, I’ve been having back pain and contractions throughout the day but not too close/long enough to ring in according to nhs etc x

I did call the hospital as was freaking out but I couldn’t go in until my waters broke and I was 4cm dialiated! X

Wait until contractions are at least 5 minutes apart, then they may ask you to come in to check x

Our local hospital ask you to call in so they know you're in labour and they know to expect you at some point but not to go in yet, more of an FYI call so they can anticipate your arrival. Best of luck ☺️

My partner called up within about 25 mins of my waters going as i cleaned up the floor before waking him, I was not contracting at this point, they asked about babies movements and I said I haven't felt baby move but Normally I'm asleep at this time so I don't know if it's normal or not. They gave us the option to go in straight away to check on baby for reduced movements or wait it out at home. We decided to go in and check just to see where I was during the labour process as it's not far for us. It's a good job we went when we did because my little girl was in my arms just 2 hours and 20 mins after my waters went!

I went 24h after I suspected my waters broke and was surprised to be 5cm dilated 😂

We rang the hospital because I had started bleeding, they said to come in straight away, I was 10cm dilated when I got there. If there aren’t any medical concerns I would recommend staying at home as long as possible so I wouldn’t be ringing them at the first contraction.

I rang them when I knew I was in real labour then they told me to get a shower, relax and call back when i had 3 contractions in 10, then I called back when 4-5 mins apart cause I was in decent pain and good thing I did as they closed the labour ward and had to transfer me to a hospital 35 minutes away, by the time I got there I was 5cm dilated🤦🏼‍♀️

I called when contractions were coming thick and fast and I just knew the baby was coming soon (this was about 20hrs or so after my first contraction, when I got to the midwife centre I was 7cm dilated and he was born about 5hrs later. My waters didn’t break until late though. I may have called earlier if they had.
