Strangest thing happened tonight

That's why I opted for a non WiFi monitor as I was worried about hacking
Maybe I will look at an audio one
Although she's nearly 3 it's nice to still be able to hear her when I'm downstairs or in bed

If it has a light when on, maybe that’s what she doesn’t like. My son always asks me to cover a little orange light on his white noise.

Never had an issues with it, I know if it’s been hacked the light would stay on as if the monitor is turned on. My little girls can be upset over the light like Ana said about so i usually hide it away x

How old is she? My nearly 3 year old never had a problem with his until recently either & then he started turning it away from him & saying it was watching him (which technically it was) so my husband has left it on his bed but turned it off.

I have this exact monitor with my youngest and no issues. Also the non wifi ones cannot be hacked as the signal only runs between camera and monitor 🤦‍♀️

Also used it for my eldest as well and no issues.

Unfortunately, I don't want to worry you but also would hate to not comment either and make you aware that my friend shared a post on facebook the other day about this vtech monitor being hacked even though it's non WiFi. The original poster heard noises through it and reported it to vtec. Apparently vtec said the account wasnt available when they looked into it which meant it had been hacked and they said it must have been someone within 500ft of the monitor 😳

Iv just gone to screenshot the post she shared but it now says it's unavailable. I've googled it and it does say it's less likely to be hacked if non wifi but it can be and to be aware of strange activity or sounds on it. Mine isn't vtech but it makes me really worried and scared incase it ever happens to ours 😔 x

But on another note, on occassion for the past couple of weeks, my 3yr old has been asking for the camera to be turned off and saying it's scary with the red light on it so we turn it off then turn it on when she's asleep. They're at the age where they're more aware and scared of things in the dark etc x

It was definitely a vtec non WiFi monitor but I dont know if there are different ones?

Just keep an eye on it. It could just be the red light that your toddler is scared of x

I'd seriously doubt it's been "hacked." The monitor would have to be accessible by wifi over an app, and the person would have to have the app (or an app that connects to it) and have access to your account and password which is a lot of work just to watch a baby's bedroom. Hackers mostly target bank accounts and credit cards.

Also, you can't "hack" a closed-circuit system. If it doesn't use wifi it has nothing to connect to.

Owlet is the only one I’d be comfortable with at this point

Maybe it’s the light coming from it scaring her? It is quite noticeable in a dark room, you could get a sticker to cover it x

I could try a sticker on it
She does have a night light
But maybe when the camera light is on she knows she's being watched lol
Although we went all night without it on lastnight and it was okay x
