UNSAFE STRATUS I-SIZE CAR SEAT ICKLE BUBBA

Hi everyone,

I purchased a travel system from Ickle Bubba before my baby was born, and I’ve been using it for the past 3 months without any issues. However, as soon as I removed the newborn insert, my baby started slumping forward, with his chin resting on his chest, which has made him very uncomfortable. I’m really concerned that this could be restricting his airways. I haven’t used the seat since noticing this issue, and I’ve tried everything I can think of to fix it—checking the ISOFIX base, adjusting the recline, and moving the head support up and down—but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else experienced this with their travel system? Were you able to get a refund or resolve the issue?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

You need to leave the insert in until they reach a certain height… I have this exact seat. I think it’s 63cm x

Sounds like he’s too small still and you just need to put the newborn insert back in x

You might need to lower the headrest once you have removed the insert, as baby will be lower in the seat so their head will be in a different position. If you feel comfortable doing so, you could post a pic of little one in the seat for us to check. If not, just check that the straps are coming out in line with baby's shoulders, not above them.
This is, unfortunately, known not to be a seat that offers a very good fit, so it might be that there are no adjustments that will solve the issue, but it's worth a try before you give up on it!

my baby’s 63cm already, he’s on the taller side x

I waited until mine was a little taller because we had the same problem x

it’s so strange because I checked and on the car seat it’s >60cm for the inserts! I’ll wait a little longer and if it doesn’t resolve I’ll have to get a new one 🥲

I’ve tried adjusting the headrest but no luck! When I bought it I only looked at the reviews for the travel set and they were really good, I wish I looked at the separate reviews for the car seat because I would have never purchased x

I had the same travel system and the seats are awful! My LO was chin to chest and nothing made it better (tried different inserts etc from the retailer). In the end I told them I was unhappy with how unsafe it was and requested a return on the seat. I ordered through the baby show originally who use an online store so was given credit to buy a different seat (chose a Cybex). It’s a known issue that Ickle Bubba seats are awful unfortunately. You should be able to request a refund and opt for something a lot safer (maxi cosi etc) x

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
