Hello! I had a C section yesterday morning and gave birth to my beautiful daughter at 9:20am. I took the compression stockings off today for a shower and then have stayed quite mobile all day. Now it’s night time and I will obviously be going to sleep. Do I need to put the stockings back on or am I okay without them now? What’s your experiences with recovery too as I am struggling currently with the pain! Thanks (picture of baby attached as who doesn’t love a baby picture!)

Congratulations such a cutie 🥰 .
You need to have your socks on for the next seven days as advised .with my c section I had to wear them for two weeks cause when I decided to take them off . I had swollen feet.
Just make sure you follow the guidance don’t lift anything heavier than your new born.
Make sure your wound is always dry
Keep on top of your pain killers .
Accept enough help around you.
In second week of postpartum I started feeling less sore .

Congratulations! What a cutie. ❤️ depends how long they told you to keep on for. I think I was told 24hrs.
I remember day 2 being the worst of the pain and thinking, how will I get through this. It only gets better from here. Stay mobile, but don’t push yourself too much. Stay on top of your meds, even if it means setting alarms at night x

Congratulations!
I had mine Friday they told me I can remove for shower and a few hours during day but I've gotta keep mine on for 6 weeks 😬 100% wear them on lazy days/night i felt awful first 3 days then day 4 I felt like a brand new woman 😆 keep on top of pain meds xx

She's cute 😍 also, I had extremely swollen feet until at least 10 days after getting home. That's what the daily jabs are for, to prevent blood clots

I wasn’t even given them! I was on the thinners injections but no one ever gave me stockings haha. Are you all based in UK? I’m Scotland I wonder if it’s area dependent that’s crazy it differs so much

I think it varies. I had to put them on for surgery. After my shower the next day, I asked if I could get another pair of stockings before I left hospital and they said I didn't need any because I was having heparin injections for 10 days.
I did, however, buy some myself around day 11 because my feet swelling was still bad and it really helped that go down! I wore them for 3 days, taking them off at night.

I did buy some compression socks from notyourgrandmas.co.uk - they were a lifesaver during 3rd tri and csection recovery. Now my feet are back to normal 17 days post section

I had to have my socks on as long as I was in the hospital, which was 5 days

I was also on the thinner injections so maybe it varies depending on who is telling you 😂

I wore them at all times minus showers until my blood thinners were finished

I took them off when I left the hospital
Congratulations 🥹🥹 she's lovely x

Midwife told me 6 weeks too! She said if you’re having an active day to just pop them on overnight, but if you’re having a day around the house and not moving so much to just keep them on. I had heparin injections after my first c section, but apparently with elective you don’t have them! As for the pain, just keep on top of the painkillers - first few days are the worst, but it does improve quickly after that.

I had elective and the injections

interesting! They did say they make an assessment on whether you need them and you have to have certain risk factors or have had 3 children then you always have them. Weird it’s so varied!

nope, first baby, no risk factors as far as I'm aware 🤷♀️ maybe they found some and didn't tell me. All the ladies on my ward seemed to have gotten them

I got told to wear mine for 10 days during night and day. Then to wear them only at night if you're mobile during the day, for 6 weeks. Better safer than sorry and better then getting a blood clot.
