Oh also! It might help but might notā¦my little girl is 15 months and sheās been given a little Dutch dolly for Christmas by one of my friends and sheās now pointing to my belly / she knows brother is in there etc but this little dolly is so good sheās like patting its bum and changing its nappy/ bottle feeding and putting dummy in and tucking it in. It might not work as well with a boy especially if older and in his toddler era haha but could be an option to kind introduce him to the idea of a baby! https://www.thekidcollective.co.uk/little-dutch-baby-doll-rosa-set.html I think you get loads of different ones but ours is this brand and almost identical to this one jsut different dress x
@Megan thank you! i also think a next to me is the way to go. Iāve been looking at the cozee ones from tutti bambini so will have another thorough look and make a decision on which of those to get š the lua looks gorgeous but I wasnāt sure about it not zipping down and only folding - what did you think about that? The dockatot was used more as a mattress to lay him next to us when chilling on the sofa eating watching tv etc so he had his own clean space with a flatter surface - because even at the time a couple years ago they were already considered unsafe but we knew weād never leave him unattended in one as there was always myself, hubby or my mum (spoilt little man!) next to him. So it served its purpose at the time š And yes her snoo (and later cotbed) has been revamped with a new mattress and sheās got new sheets etc too thank you though because this point often gets missed xx
@Megan as for little man š¤¦š»āāļøš¤¦š»āāļøš¤¦š»āāļø donāt get me started!! I have 14 nieces and nephews and can tell you first hand - boys are a different type of animal to raise š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ girls bless their little hearts are sooooo understanding, compassionate and generally quicker with their learning. I understand itās not every single boy but iām just talking the majority. Dani (my son) isnāt advanced in his speech so a lot of explaining goes over his head. We tried getting him a little pram with a baby inside which we thought we can later give baby girl when she grows up as we knew he wouldnāt be too interested just to introduce the idea of being gentle with babies and taking care and responsibility for one. Nope. He has a niece about a year younger than him, all he wants to do is grab her face if she gets in his personal space, he otherwise completely ignores her - he kisses and hugs her and says i love you at times but itās veryyy rare moments š¤£š¤£ He has just gotten into playing really rough and jumping
@Tulin so yeah this was my biggest gripe with the LUA especially post section it was near impossible to sit up and get her out of her cot during the night my partner had to be doing that for me. I ended up buying the cozee a few months in and swapping them over and had the Lua downstairs and cozee next to my bed. I thought it was better to be able to zip the side down fullyā¦. But then baby starts to be able to wriggle their way about even really early on so I was actually less confident in the cozee and having the side down and attached to bed incase she ended up on the edge etc so around this time I swapped them back and was then healed etc and much much preferred it. Itās a preference thing but Iāve got my lua stripped down and new mattress and covers all hanging and drying haha -!due to go in on Friday to have my little boy and I havenāt even dug out the tutti bambini one yet as I know I felt most comfortable with her in the lua itās definitely a far superior cot imo but the cozee
Jumping off surfaces and on top of us and throw pillows etc. he thinks the poor dog is his rocking horse and we sound like a broken record with āgentle hands please - no we donāt touch other peoples or the dogs face - hands to ourselves please - rubbing no grabbing, etc etc etcā is working. Time outs arenāt working. And I am super consistent with it have been for weeks: Heās not attached to any particular toy so āpunishmentā in that sense isnāt working. I am letting him watch children programs with taking care of babies to get him to āunderstandā and sympathise through song and play. But yeah - work in progress defo!!! He has the type of character that he doesnāt follow us when we try to teach. Youād think heās ignoring you. Then in a few weeks he does or says what youāve been trying to drill into him out of the blue and smiles cheekily. Waiting for the ball to drop š¤Ŗš¤Ŗš¤Ŗš¤Ŗ
Is so so handy, folds down extremely flat and we can swap it about rooms really easily and take on overnights etc. we also have the hauck travel cot itās the extended length one as our children seem to be leggy things and super tall haha so youāll find your own preference etc but Iād recommended both next to meās in their own way xx
Sorry for pure SPAM but you can also get travel cots with bassinet feature so like youāre not bending right down to the bottom to scoop up a tiny baby thereās like a mid / top level you can remove once baby is sitting up etc and it doubles up as a full size travel Cot and a bassinet! https://amzn.eu/d/6yxMgUV this idea
@Megan thatās actually so so helpful thank you so much!! And itās just made me look at it from a different light when you said you initially swapped them around - im thinking I have my snoo which like the lua my only gripe with was that it was sooo bleeding difficult to get baby in and out of for the first week or two with a section but you just grit your teeth and get on with it or hubby helped as you mentioned and I was questioning the decision of getting it sooo much as it was supposed to be the all singing and dancing crib to get etc, but later once I had healed I so so so appreciated it!! So in that sense, Iād rather have the lua then probably because to get something of a lesser sturdiness with safety concerns isnāt worth it for a week or two of healing and also as itāll most likely be downstairs as canāt see a reason not - I donāt even need it to zip down so why am i bothered by that šššš and that only just clicked š¤Ŗ
@Megan and oh my gosh!!! So so happy for you and a tad jealous at how close that is but also a part of me is happy to only deal with the one for a couple more weeks š¤£š¤£ best of luck with it I hope little man makes his way way out safely and wish you an easy recovery š„°š„° And we seem to have a pattern with leggy children too š¤£š¤£ im a titchy little thing but dad is sooo tall! Dani was soo skinny when he came out but SUPER tall itās actually funny looking back at his little lanky silhouette 𤣠and every sonographer has pretty much gone āgosh sheās got long legsā in most of my scans 𤣠so weāve got a pattern xxx
Same position as I have a 2 year old. We just got a really cheap cot for downstairs, I think it was Ā£40 from Smyths so not a huge waste if he doesnāt use it a lot. Otherwise bringing pram inside is an option
@Tulin yeah absolutely Iād be going with the LUA. Itās actually really lovely to look at as well, comes with a matching changing mat and loads of space underneath to store a nappy caddy etc and the mesh breathable sides I always felt were so safe even when baby liked to push her face right up against the sides haha, the cozee one side is totally solid so again I felt I didnāt sleep as well as was constantly shifting her back to the middle. Also thereās two levels for the side coming down, you can keep it āunlockedā and you just push in one swift motion and it goes right down or you can let it click into place half way down then push it down a bit further if you want to keek in but that would only be if you were laying Ona. Pillow right next to baby. The mesh sides let you see right in so you wouldnāt have to worry about it not fully unzipping - and maybe with your little boy if curiosity got the better of him itās better that it doesnāt ! Wishing you the best of luck šššš
@Jess my mum suggested that! But we only have the one pram so far which weāre using for little man still so donāt want to swap around between the carrycot etc all the time and donāt want to get a second one as planning on getting a tandem attachment but donāt want both attached and sitting in the living room - will look super bulky! But thank you it did cross my mind for a sec but I think iāll have to go for a second cot as you said xx
@Megan you have me convinced honestly!! And it looks stunning and goes really well with my living room and pram and everything not that it should be a contributing factor but šššš xx
We use our ur pram carrycot downstairs on a moses basket stand and have a Lua next to me upstairs. Seems to work quite well!

@TulinI wasnāt too sure about a Moses basket at first. Like you, I needed somewhere safe to put baby so that he doesnāt get trampled by an unruly toddler! I went for the Snuzbasket because it doesnāt look like a traditional Moses basket. My baby sleeps in it like a dream downstairs and looks quite chicāŗļø x
@Chloe I think Iām leaning towards a lua from mamas and papas but when searching I came across the snuzbaskit and honestly for a āmosesā basket itās SUPER chic so I know exactly what you mean - my main concern was it didnāt look āsturdyā enough. Like anything with a moses basket type of legs make me think little man can just accidentally topple over or it wouldnāt withstand him hanging off it š Not to say heāll he left unattended around baby at ALL but you know how mum brains wonder! Xx
@Tulin yeah thatās why I went for another cot in the end. Hoping he will sleep in it though as my daughter contact napped until about 8months š« š
@Tulin ah yeah totally get what you mean. My little lad was almost a ten pounder so heās pretty solid in there. My girl is quite petite and just pokes her head over it for now x

We had two next to mes. One mamas and papas lua one for our room and we got a tutti bambini one for downstairs in living room etc. it folds up well as well for travel and overnights etc. you could also get a travel cot but I think mostly need to just try drum it into your toddler from now til baby is here that he needs to be gentle etc etc etc. easier said than done! Would definitely suggest ditching any kind of dockatots or sleepyheads this time around theyāre proven to be really unsafe for sleep and have been banned and rebranded etc. wouldnāt take the chance even though your first was obv fine with it xx also for any cribs and cots youāre reusing make sure to fully strip and wash all material parts and replace the mattresses xx
