Sooo…my boy has been potty trained for pees during the day for a couple of months now and is doing really well. He has shown very little interest in doing a poo in the potty or the toilet despite us trying to coax him with biscuits, stickers and lots of encouragement, he just refuses! Lately he has been doing his poo every night in a nappy just before bed. His sleep has been poor for about 5 weeks now, he keeps getting up through the night & coming into our bed and last night he was up for 3.5 hours so this morning I rang the Health Visitor for advice because we think he was becoming more aware of his nappy being wet etc. She advised me to remove his nappy at night otherwise he will continue to do his poo in the nappy as it’s his “safety blanket” I’m so confused because the advice on here seems to be when they’re when they’re dry all night, you could try pants at night? His nappies have got less wet but he has not been dry through the night yet. I am keen to try the cold turkey on Fri night when there’s no work for anyone next day. Has anyone done no nappy through the night, cold turkey and it worked out well? Any tips are welcome

How old is he?
Cold turkey no diaper through the night is a setup for failure especially when he doesn't wake up with a dry diaper.
He’ll be 3 on 14th March
The health visitor did warn me that it won’t be pretty & could take a week or 2, but she said he will never learn or be willing to do a poo in the potty/toilet while he knows there’s a nappy to do it in, which seemed to make sense to me.

We had a similar problem, but it was during nap time, and we started putting a little potty in the room and removing nappies. Mine started using the little potty with that extra bit of privacy. You could try a slightly earlier bedtime with some quiet time in the bedroom without nappy and access to a potty. I don't think the poo and the night waking are related.
Hi I’m only seeing your reply now & I’ve just put him to bed without no nappy. Have training pants (so a tiny bit padded), waterproof sheets, old pjs & potty beside him. Tried our best to get him to go to the potty/toilet before bed but he didn’t pee. Fully prepared for him to wake up a couple of times, fingers crossed it’s not a total disaster 🤞🤞 we have asked the nursery not ti put him in a nappy for short naps since Tuesday, he’s had 2 accidents, the naps are only 30 mins long 🫠 OMG it’s all trial and error isn’t it? Thanks so much for your reply xx
