Hey all! Wondering if anyone has any good ideas for teaching 4 yr olds letter and number recognition? Lil dude is in preschool and his teacher tells me that he’s about 6 months behind. He can count and say his letters but doesn’t recognize them. He just wants to play lol. Typical boy.

My sons pre-k teacher gave us sight words to take home. I made a few cards with each letter on it and let him find the letters that match the words while helping him to sound it out.
He’s also really fond of his friends so he always recognizes the letters that represent his friends (like A is for Asher, Z is for Zoe, D is for Dennis). I’ve been able to get him recognize other letters the same way by showing him the first letter with his favorite thing of the letter like Q is for queso 🤣. He’s not perfect but he’s getting there.
Hope this helps!
