My LO will be 1yrs old on Monday. He started clapping way before crawling & he can give high five when you model it. However, he hasn’t shown any interest in waving or pointing to things. Although, I have been teaching him how to wave for months. The only time he points is to my chest when being breastfed sometimes. He’s my first baby & I’m kind of a little worried. I know every kid is different but I just wish he could clap, wave & point by now.

My baby will be one on the 19th, she is clapping too it’s one of her favorite things, but no interesting in waving or pointing either! It’s okay, every baby learns at a different rate, he will get there in his own time. You’re doing great mama

My son has been clapping and waving for a few months and can high five in the last month but has not pointed. I’m not sure when he will but I feel like he should be by now. I’m not too worried about it but he just doesn’t no matter how much we try and teach him

My son waved like twice. I swore something was up. And nope it's just his personality. He's almost 3yo and still just doesn't like to wave. My daughter though she just turned a year has been waving and clapping for months and saying hi to strangers😂
I noticed with my son that once he mastered something he would just stop doing it and move on to the next new thing. I also was freaking out because he rarely smiled. Turns out I am just not that funny to him lol he laughs all the time with my husband. So just observe him and if you think something is off then let his doctor know. Otherwise some kids just don't want to do things like waving or clapping lol
These comments make me feel much better. Thank you mamas😊

My lo will be 1 on the 21st and she just recently started pointing

My 11 month literally waved the other day for first time and it was for Daniel Tiger Neighborhood. 🫠 but pointing nope nada, he's barely started getting interested in clapping lol.

My daughter just turned 1 on the 6th and instead of clapping, when I clap she goes, “yay!” because that’s what I say when I clap 🤣. As far as pointing and waving, not a chance. She just laughs when I do it, almost as if she has the ability to and just doesn’t care to lol. I’m not too worried though. She’s always been on her own agenda with things and sometimes it’s just because she doesn’t care to do certain things when she can be beating her toys on our table instead, for example 🙂🫠
