Hi ladies! My Lo is about to be 3 weeks. I combo feeding him formula for now until my milk goes up. I noticed when I give him more breast milk he has not pooped in 24 hours. I tried giving him formula to see if that would help but nothing. He still has 6+ wet diapers daily but has not pooped. I’m worried as he has jaundice and I was told he needs to poop more. It’s already clearing up and only need his face to change color which the pediatrician mentioned would happen in a week or so. Any advise ? He doesn’t seem constipated he is not crying and his tummy is soft.

Hey… I’m sorry to hear that you guys are having a time right now. How much does he weigh?
He is weighing about 8.5 lb he gained weight. He was born at 7 lb 14 oz

How much is he eating overall
He eats 2-3 oz when I breastfeed him in not sure exactly but I’m pumping 2-3 oz with both breasts when I give him a bottle. I want to exclusively BF him but I have fear or not knowing how much he will be eating. He eats every 2-3 hours

They have scales on Amazon to weigh baby pre and post breast feeding so you can see exactly how many oz they took in based on weight

I think It’s normal for babies not to poop for a few days. If he has wet diapers that’s already a good sign. I wouldn’t worry too much unless you see his jaundice getting worst or any other symptom

I’m asking how much overall . If he’s not eating enough, he won’t poop. I told my niece the same thing her baby had jaundice as well. She did not want to give them formula, but I explained the importance of it to her. Her twins needed to eat more and once they did, the poop started coming. Although it is OK for babies not to poop sometimes you wanna make sure you’re taking care of their basic needs to allow them to do so at a 1st level.

My pediatrician said baby can go up to five days without a poop

Not pooping is normal for breastfed babies as long as they are having wet diapers you’re fine. They use most of what breast milk is made of and don’t have a lot of waste.
Thank you all for your help. For those following this or updates. Went to lactation consultant and pediatrician. It’s normal for breastfed babies not to poop for days. Luckily my little one is still pooping now normally again. He takes both bottle and breastfeeds. He prefers breastfeeding to soothe him and bottle when he is hungry.
