Dilapan induction

The word “dilapan” gives me nightmares to this day. Midwives were great, I was offered gas and air for insertion. I had 5 in one go. 20hrs later cervix still closed. The pain was instant, nothing helped (first line pain relief). I didn’t use the big stuff as I was advised I should save that for later when the real labour pains begin.

oh wow sorry to hear that! Do you mind me asking how dilated you were when they inserted?

Sorry for the late response, 20hrs later I was still 1cm dilated, if that. Cervix still practically closed. And we moved onto hormone drip x
