Tens Machine

Is anyone using a TENS machine to manage early labour. Would you recommend? Silly question but if you have no signs yet, but feel some sort of contractions how do you know when to start using it?

Following I have a tens machine and plan to use in early labour!

I believe you want to use it quite early in labour to have the most effect. You should press the button to cause the “shock” as your contraction starts so your body can build the tolerance before your contraction peaks. Hope that makes sense, a midwife explained it to me

I gave birth on the 1st and am a huge fan of the tens machine! It was brilliant and I used up to the epidural. Yes use as soon as painful contractions no matter how mild begin. You can always take it off if it dies down but you’ll get used to the sensation and be able to do it automatically once they really kick in 💪🏻 FYI get your birth partner to read up on how to position the pads in advance so you’re not learning during labour, test it out on your arm too like the instructions say

I’m currently using a tens machine in early labour and it’s been a godsend. I use it in burst mode consistently then boost mode when a contraction takes hold. Managed to get some sleep with it on last night too

@Madeleine ah thank you!! Which one did you end up purchasing/hiring?

@Lauren oh that's good news, hopefully baby arrives soon for you!

I picked up a second hand Elle Tens from Facebook marketplace and bought new pads from Amazon!
