What do you wear for birth?

Trying to make my mind for my birth bag. I am a first time mom, so no idea what you actually need to wear for birth. What pjs are also nicer for the hospital?

Thanks!

You don't need/have to wear anything. I wore nothing at my first home birth. But if you're not comfortable wearing nothing, then whatever you're comfortable in. A crop top, nighty, T-shirt; literally whatever. You won't care what you look like after so comfort is key xx

I wore a bikini top for my daughter and it was ideal (one of those stretchy Hunza G one) was initially planning a water birth but didn’t turn out this way. It was great because it’s easy access for breastfeeding if that’s what you want and you also get super hot/ sweaty! If you’re on the labour war they should give you a gown as well.

I’d say a nightie would be great if you’re staying for the night, no matter what time of the year it is HOT!!

I just wore the t shirt I had on that day, and then stayed in the hospital gown afterwards… I only changed to come home

I had a maternity nighty from Amazon for my first which was super comfy however it did get ruined during the birth so I would suggest something comfy but also something you don’t mind getting ruined 😅x

With both of mine I just ended up birthing in the t-shirt I was wearing that day. After the birth had a bath and then got into a comfy pair of pjs

You can go oversized shirt or bikini top if you want a birthing pool or nothing if you fancy, I opted for the button down maternity nightgown as I was having an induction so I was having wires of the machines everywhere and they are great to unbutton to breastfeed and for skin to skin contact when baby arrives 🙂

I had a nighty and matching thin dressing gown thing. Think I brought it from missguided or somewhere!
Pjs - Chelsea peers has lovely maternity ones at the moment! I've brought the plain ones in every colour they have! So comfortable!! X

For my first I went and got a button down nightie..I was sweating so that came straight off 😂 for my second I ended up just taking my clothes off and I just wore my bra (both my labours were quick so didn’t get chance to change into anything etc).. I’d say something more loose fitting for comfort but you might not want anything on at the time 😊 x

I bought a light/thin/loose/V stretchy vest + shorts lounge-type set from Primark for my first, but ended up with an emergency Section early on, so outfit wasn’t needed. But as others have said, loose, open + replaceable, or even topless/naked 🤣

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!

Anyone else’s owlet pi##ing them off ?!?! It goes off 5/6 a night saying it can’t get a reading and needs a snug fit. My baby is 8 months old so moves a lot. It is driving me insane and I keep end up taking it off!!
