Hey y’all 💜
I’m 38 years old and 7 months postpartum. I gained nearly 60lbs with my little guy and also ended up having an emergency c-section. Baby is exclusively breastfed.. sloowwly starting solids!
I have gained so much extra weight and just haven’t lost it. 😮💨 It’s in my face, my arms and my stomach. On bad days it looks like I’m still 5 months pregnant. I feel like I have zero jawline because of a damn double chin. There are ripples and cellulite in my torso.(Do I sound like I’m being hard on myself?! 😳😆)
Basically: I don’t feel like myself at all. I weighed 115lbs before baby and I’m 135lbs now.
Cherry on top: I’ve also just gone through the postpartum hair loss (and decided now was the time to get a hair cut?! It looks terrible.. and I mean that for real. She butchered the cut. 🥴)
I’m.. really, actually, struggling. 💔❤️🩹 Please tell me this gets better.. and/or what have been your absolutes for weight loss/toning post baby and/or self-love hacks?
I’ve never been an intentional exerciser - never had to be as I was always pretty petite and was on my feet a lot. But I think times are different now. 😳😆🥴
Everyone says “you look great” but I’m worried that I have an increasingly poor body image. I really look in the mirror these days and hate what I see.
Thanks everyone. Picture of my little one. 💜

Hey mama! I'm 38 and will be one year postpartum this week. I gained about the same weight and I had a bad hair color job around the same time as you!! I totally know that feeling. Overall, my process was long and slow and I *tried* to be ok with that and focus on my baby. I think somewhere around 9mos I started to feel like myself again but didn't feel the sparkle til the last month or so! Hang in there 💕

I also gained about 60 lbs and hair loss when you have thin hair is a terrible combo. At 7 months pp I felt the same way as you. Didn't start feeling myself again even remotely until 12 months pp and that's when I was really able to start focusing on my health and self image more. 15 months pp now and down 17lbs so far. Dealing with health issues so not really feeling great but it does get better. Give yourself some grace, you made a whole human. Your haven't even been not pregnant for as long as you were pregnant. (Things I told myself in the mirror almost daily)

Hey mama! I totally get it. I gained about the same weight (65 lbs) and I weighed 107 before 🙃. I also didn’t have to work out before to be small. I will say, especially when breastfeeding, it comes off SLOW. I did start working out around 9 months or so pp. I’m now 2 years pp and at 116. I just decided to work with a personal trainer to lose the last bit of weight and strengthen. Sometimes I get down about my body and sometimes I look in the mirror and think “hey I look pretty good for making a human!” It can be hard to accept the change, but with time you can get there. I started buying myself new clothes now since my old ones won’t fit (my back is wider and stronger from carrying around my kiddo 😆) and it feels good to get yourself some new clothes that make you feel good.

I totally know the feeling! I hope it gets better!

I gained 44lbs this 3rd pregnancy. I take my baby out as soon as I’m healed…so from 2m pp I was at baby bounce sessions 3* a week, a mothers group on Fridays and a sahm meet up the other day I’m not attending his baby bounce (or sometimes I’d skip it and meet a mum) Being out guarantees my 10k steps for the day. I also took up Zumba and Pilates at 4m to gain my strength back. Light weights, walk a lot, eat healthy, drink lots of water. I see lots of pp fitness accounts on IG which have done it and I have a “I can do it too” mentality so I copied their workouts at home and made sure i get my steps in, which being out of the house was much better for my MH anyway I’m not a sahm who can actually be home all day I need to be around people and sun and waves and trees and breeze, which wards off depression as well. If you don’t want to intentionally exercise then walk. Walk, ALOT. Around a lake or a mall. I can spend 6hrs at IKEA and have before w a friend 😂 (parking was $36 though 😳😵💫)

Hey momma, have some grace on yourself. I know it’s easy to go in on yourself but I think if everyone’s telling you you look great then you probably do. I know you may not look how you want or what you’re used to, but give yourself and your body a moment to heal. I too am used to being more slim thick, and after my baby I just feel thick. None of my clothes fit nor my shoes so not having a wardrobe just adds to feeling egh.
So far what’s helped me lose some weight is for sure walking. I don’t always have the energy for it every day but at least a few times out of the week. It also helps to take the baby and just stroll through the neighborhood.
As for hair, girl we are all going through it 😅. The PP hair loss is real. Use castor oil before wash day and let it sit. Also keep taking your prenatal vitamins. That’ll help.
Sending you lots of love 🫂💓

Hi Drew, completely understand how you feel! I weighed 125lbs before pregnancy and was 143lbs postpartum. I am 10 months postpartum and weighed myself yesterday and got down to 126lbs. It took some work and dedication, but it’s possible. I stopped breastfeeding at 3 months, so I started my weight loss journey at that time. I followed a low carb diet, and fasted in the evening (no food starting from 7pm). I got into boxing (any sport with high intensity cardio works wonders) and would do it once to twice a week for one hour. Some women lose the weight by twelve months postpartum but that’s what worked for me. Hang in there 💙

I have my 3rd 9 months ago and still have 20lbs to lose as well. It takes time. We don’t have the same time to workout with littles so it’ll take awhile to lose the weight.

Hey, I feel exactly the same. Everyday it makes me upset and I’m finding it so hard to motivate myself to change even though I’m so unhappy. I’ve started using the weight watchers app which helps because you can monitor what you’re eating. I always say we see the worst in ourselves and the best in others. Hoping we all get back to our happy self’s even if it’s a new different happy self. 💓💓

Hairs gonna grow back 😊
(Your adrenals did a really big job)
Healthy snacking change my life. Fruits and berries 🤤 veggies. Every few hours (just like a baby) herbal tea, aloe Vera water, coconut water, juice..
Low fat diet ✨

I'm right here with you mama ☹️ I was 180 before baby and I'm about 240 now. And the hair loss 😩 girl I dread combing my hair because I know I'm gonna have a ball the size of a kitten smh...
I've always eaten healthy and I walk a lot but I feel like I just keep getting bigger and bigger. I'm hoping that with summer here and her walking now I'll be more active naturally but it's definitely hard.
And for me, at least, social media doesn't help. All I see are moms doing way more and looking way better than me and it sends me into a spiral smh.
I wish I could give you a hug 🫂🤗

Honestly starting from today just take the baby out look for a lake or a mall or find a baby class then drop by the mall after, if you live next to a nature park or a walking trail…..when it’s baby’s nap time swaddle him rug him up and just, walk. 2hrs a day minimum of walking and you’ll start to see a difference. He’ll most likely fall asleep in pram w motion. Or baby wear. Getting out of the house promotes seratonin and dopamine as well, the good hormones. Take baby out. Staying home is the worst thing we can do for out fitness and mental health for me.
