Anyone have tips on reducing gas pains in their little ones?
My twins are 8 weeks premature so they are just barely past their due date now and at night their gas seems so bad, they are constantly grunting with a pained look on their face.
I try massage, bicycle kicks, gas drops, tummy time, frequent burping, all the things I see recommended. Anyone find another magic solution? š„²

Have you tried the windy machine? I havenāt tried myself but our pediatrician says parents swear by it!

Are you breastfeeding?
May be what your diet is - if not you may need to ask the pediatrician for advice on the type of formula you should try. Since they were preemies their bellies may take a bit longer to work ānormallyā. Their bellies are immature and make it harder to digest their milk.
Also the type of bottles can be the āissueā as some bottles can make them take in more air.
Talking to the kiddos pediatrician may be the best thing to do
š«¶š¼good luck mama!

Windi gasspasser is really helpful but be mindful of how frequently you use it. My LO is just starting to figure out passing gas (7w) on his own and honestly the only thing that has really helped is time/age. Its been awful, I feel for you š„“

I have the same struggle with the mine 7 weeks baby! She prefers to be held upside down or side ways. We give her mylicon drops. What kinda drops do you use?

I breastfeed and pump so I have a couple different things that worked for us. For bottle feeding what helped a little for us was changing bottles⦠use the slowest flow they will tolerate, feed them sitting up and pace bottle feeding. Look up how to pace a bottle feed. For breastfeeding, I do sort of a modified football hold. How it works is I will first attach baby in a regular football hold position, then I will lean back so that their booty is planted on the surface next to me and their upper body sits upright. That way I can breastfeed baby sitting upright. I also changed my burping technique. I will sit her booty on my thigh, facing to my right⦠and I will use my right hand to hold her chest. I use my index and thumb finger to hold her head up near her cheek/ jaw area. Then Iāll use my left hand to pat her back. If she doesnāt burp within the first few minutes, I lean her back in a laying down kind of position then lean her forward again. This will make her burp almost every time

I realize my descriptions of positions may not be totally clear, so lmk if you want a picture or video to see how it actually works

Probiotics helped my baby pass gas like a champ

We recently started culterelle probiotic once daily and I feel like it has been helping

My ped suggested mylicon. We haven't used it yet because we switched to a sensitive formula which has helped tremendously. But i bought mylicon in case if emergencies. My little one was born at 37 weeks so like above people have said, their stomachs might not be mature yet. It takes awhile.

we are using pumped milk and Dr browns bottles with the vent and level 1 nipple. But their feeding habits are immature and they let in some extra air because they don't have a good latch. They also just got over a cold so we thought the mucus might be irritating their bellies, and I'm on antibiotics which gives them a little bit of diarrhea and maybe it irritates their stomachs too...

My son was 6 weeks early, currently 8 weeks old. I took him off the fortifier and it helped a lot. I am also now trying dairy free myself to see if we can get him even more comfortable because heās still a bit gassy. (I know littles are gassy but trying to make home more comfortable).
I would try a dairy free diet and see if it makes a difference. My daughter was also a preemie (7 weeks early) and she had a horrible dairy allergy, it gave her the worse reflux. She outgrew the allergy thank goodness but she was on hypoallergenic formula for the first 9-10 months.

oh interesting! I am using neosure to fortify the breastmilk but they are so far behind on weight gain that I should continue it longer if possible.

You can try to do gentle belly massages, you start on the bottom left side of their belly and apply gentle pressure in a horseshoe shape to the bottom right side of their belly. You can look up tutorials on YouTube. Keep in mind, your baby will cry at first but your not hurting them, itās just because theyāre gassy and your applying pressure but my baby typically stops crying and feels relief within 10-30 seconds

Infacol colic relief drops will help this asap. Put some in their bottles or directly in their mouth before the feed.
