RENTING APPLICATION / GUARANTOR CREDIT CHECKS
How long does this usually take? i saw a property yesterday, put the application in straight away and this morning my partner is calling to put down the holding fee. How long do you think it’d take for it to all go through?

They usually don’t take long between mine took less than a week but 1-2weeks max. Worth knowing though that the day you move in will be your rent payment day, so I strung it out longer to make it the beginning of each month. Just personal preference though.
It doesn’t really take long at all, like Madeline said it’s usually 1/2 weeks. We recently viewed a house and the day after we did all the paperwork and within a week it was ours x
I went and viewed a flat on the Sunday, got the application straight after, credit checks and guarantor checks all completed and a signed tenancy by the Tuesday, had the keys on the Thursday. Honestly sometimes the longer the better because I was not prepared for the quick turn around even tho I thought I was😂luckily managed to get everything in by the Friday but still had no sofa and things😂
we viewed our house on the saturday and we'd moved in by the next saturday ☺️ as far as im aware it doesn't normally take long

I've been renting since 2017 and it's usually been around 1-2 weeks as most the time the property has been popular so had to wait for landlord to pick a tenant, all the checks to be done, contracts to be signed and monies to be sent
What options do people have that don't have a guarantor?
We moved into our rental exactly a week after looking at it for the first time. It was all to fast x
Are you all going through a letting agent, online or directly through landlord?
I went through a letting agent. Also, some places do a zero deposit option which can help with no guarantor x
oh that's good. I thought they want more deposit if no guarantor?
no, not in my experience. we’ve never had any guarantor and it’ll stay the same deposit etc. they’ll usually just do a more thorough check x
oh that's good. In the midlands and London they said we have to pay more deposit or the guarantor needs to earn 3x the amount of they need to be a home owner if you work a low wage
that’s actually crazy, how can anyone afford that
