My 5 week old has had bad vomiting which the dr thinks is reflux so we have been told to use carobel for a couple of weeks to see if it helps. Before carobel she was eating 100-120ml per feed but now anything between 70-100ml per feed, with the average being around 80ml. Has anyone else noticed this? It makes sense to me as it’s a thickener so she’ll get full with less volume but I’m worried about nutrients that she’s missing from the smaller feeds. Also comparing the volume of what she eats to other babies around her age and it’s quite a bit less.

We were advised to use this but can't work out how to use it in the formula? It just clumps together? When we used it took an hour to drink 3oz we had to top up with another bottle without carobel in it. But like you I thought it makes sense to eat less if it is thicker
How are you making up the bottles? I know the packet suggests to add when cold but we found this caused lumps! My partner also read a doc from manufacturer that recommended adding when hot. We have a perfect prep so if using that we add the carobel and formula in the bottle then mix together before the hot shot stage which seems to help with clumps. Only made with hot water from the kettle once but seemed to dissolve quite well.
A couple of other things are that we were told to increase amount of carobel gradually, so currently only using 1 scoop for 120ml, and to increase teat flow size (but even with that we get the occasional blockage).
