I just found peace as an Atheist above it all.

Of course I didn’t like the hypocrisy by the church. I also didn’t like that they said LGBTQ+ people are going to hell etc…

I took off the bag of bricks 🧱 I was carrying being religious.

I just focused on myself and learning and let go of fairytales and superstitions.

the hypocrisy is hard. For me, my perspective is, hurt people hurt people. I personally believe in the Bible ( more so the Ethiopian Bible as it is older than the king James Bible by 800 years) but not "Churchianity".
Jesus's actual example on how to treat people is actually beautiful. I find, and I may be biased that most Christians follow their church beliefs rather than Jesus himself. 45,000 Christian denominations world wide... so, yeah...

I like the balance my personal faith brings but, it also seems to upset mainstream Christianity as I don't play by their rules.

A lonely road but I have peace ✌

I am a believer in Jesus Christ, and I follow His ways. I’m not someone who cares for labels and all of that—those things can divide. Have a relationship, not a religion. We need to stray away from customs, holidays, and traditions… there’s too much pride, ego, vanity, hypocrisy, and $$$ involved. Instead, we should focus on Christ as our core—our front, back, and center. That’s where the relationship begins.

I definitely wouldn’t phrase it as “left God all together” I feel that kinda minimizes the experiences of people who deconstruct because many of us don’t believe in our religions deity anymore so we didn’t leave them, we just stopped believing and left our communities religious spaces. You can’t really abandon someone you don’t think is real if you know what I’m saying haha

The hurt I experienced through Christianity isn’t even what led me to stop believing. My desire to know more and read and understand the Bible is what started causing me to question its authenticity and unravel my beliefs. Only after I did that did I even begin to unpack the trauma I experienced growing up in a very fundamental religious family/community lol

I can’t see her message, maybe she deleted cuz I’m fairly certain neither of us have eachother blocked lol

not my intention, only 30 characters and wasn't sure how to shorten it. However, I think it some what gets the point across.

I'm sorry you had that negative experience. I studied every main religion and circled back to the Bible, just not the "church"

Avatar

no I definitely get it I’m not saying it should be worded differently I’m just explaining my experience, it’s still the option I chose cuz I didn’t align with any of the others. But it’s a really common tactic for Christian’s to constantly tell atheists or agnostics that they left god or saying things like “why would you leave god for hurt you experienced by individual people or the church” so it’s a tad triggering 😂

oh, I'm neurodivergent so, I take things literal lol got it now.

yes same!! Have you ever listening to Neil degrasse tyson? He’s an astrophysicist but I’ve always resonated with what he says about religion and just greater existence and meaning in general lol https://www.instagram.com/reel/DEB2Fw0o4X-/?igsh=MWtyZ3o0YTgzY3R0cw==
