39w2d - small baby and they’ve recommended induction

I had a scan at 39 weeks & then went into labour 48 hours later after a sweep. My baby’s weight was more or less spot on from the scan so they can do them. They also can check the blood flow in placenta using the scan machine. Maybe contact them tomorrow & insist on this. I did accept an induction if the sweep didn’t work but because it was my second sweep they said they’d be able to just break my waters based on the condition of my cervix (soft & 2cm) & no artificial hormones would be used x

Have they done an ultrasound and said what the estimated weight of baby is? Or the percentile?
Or is she just basing it off her feeling with her hands?

I accidentally just clicked "get induced asap" I didn't mean to, sorry. I would personally wait and aim for spontaneous labour, maybe induction later on. Also, definitely ask them if they can do a scan and check the growth and placenta function

they said it wasn’t possible to scan because the baby’s is so far along (39w2d) and too big for the scan to determine the size accurately. I didn’t know about the blood flow machine and that wasn’t even presented as an option for me. She just said there’s no way to determine if the placenta is giving the baby nutrients xx

they said there’s no point scanning because the baby is too far along and it wouldn’t be accurate… When I had my midwife appointment today she measured me 35cm (the same as 2 weeks ago when I was 37cm). My midwife said it’s probably because of the way the baby is laying and I’ve always measured just under the 50th percentile (though this is the first time it’s been super under around 10th percentile - enough to be sent for scan). The doctor when she touched my belly said the baby is small.

I had a growth scan at 39 weeks, but it's true, at this gestation the scans can be quite inaccurate. I definitely wouldn't go off them saying baby is small by hand measurements and feelings alone.
At 39+2 I would be wanting to wait and see if you go into labour spontaneously, unless you're concerned about baby's movements, or you are now stressed and worried about baby then maybe you're better going for induction.

I've was scanned last week at 39 weeks. They did growth and checked heartbeat, blood flow, placenta etc. I'd definitely be pushing for a scan x

i had a growth scan at 39 weeks as they measured my bump and said it was the same size, but ended up it wasn’t and i was measured wrong, it sounds to me they’re just trying to get your baby out asap? they should definitely be scanning you to double check.

I was offered a growth scan yesterday at 39+4 and they were able to give me estimated weight measurements and all the usual growth metrics so you should defo be able to get a scan this late. I’d push for one rather than having an induction.

At my last scan 2.5 weeks ago, she was measuring quite small, and yesterday she was in the 65 percentile so it was reassuring!
