Autism diagnosis

Depends on who diagnosed your kid. I’ve heard it can happen either way. We don’t know our daughter’s level until we got the paperwork.

In the UK they don't do levels (or shouldn't). They might give you a score from the ados assessment though.

They didn’t with me (uk). Very annoying when looking at sen schools.

And I want to add (I’m autistic myself) our “levels” fluctuate. We don’t just stay at one level our whole life. Every day can be a different level.

I was told by the paediatrician that diagnosed my son in 2020 that they do not do levels in the UK because those levels can fluctuate so labelling a child as one level would be incorrect.Also Apparently in the US that happened and the family sued the paediatrician so they now no longer do levels in the UK

that’s actually pretty amazing of the UK to acknowledge that they fluctuate… just another reason I hate it here in America 😫

Hi Australia here! My daughter got a split diagnosis of ASD (we do levels here) level 2 for social and level 3 for sensory, emotional etc

I was told (AZ, USA) that the levels may fluctuate throughout my daughter’s life too.

my daughter got a split level here in the US too. Level 2 for social, level 3 for repetitive behaviors.

My son wasn’t given a level at diagnosis and I honestly don’t care for the levels
