I had an induction, then the hormone drip, and I didn’t have the epidural, I didn’t have any pain relief until afterwards when I needed stitches

With my first I was induced while already in natural labor. I went without pain medication for a long time

I had an induction for my first with no pain relief. It was 13 hours and for the first 7 I didn’t feel anything. It started out pretty dull but got intense quickly. I used hypnobirthing and I’m very glad I didn’t focus on the pain only lasting for a few seconds then I’ll have a break because my contractions never stopped lol. It is doable but your nurses may try to talk you into an epidural through the whole thing mine did and it was so annoying

I really wanted to and I tried for 11 hours without any pain relief but it got pretty excruciating. I was at 1cm for 11 hours and my contractions had no breaks in between + back labor. I had been in what I thought was transitional phase for almost an hour and asked them to check me but I was still at a 1 so I lost my willpower and asked for IV pain meds (didn’t help very much, wore off after 30 mins) and by then I was so defeated knowing I hadn’t dilated that I asked for epi. Doc didn’t come in for another hour and by the time they checked me again I was complete. 1-10 in under 90 minutes.

Anyway, that being said- if I knew I was that close to the end I’d have kept going pain med free. I thought I was still several hours from pushing and I gave up ):

I had an induction with my second only the stuff they put inside no drip I went 8cm before I got an epidural I had too many people around me telling me to just get the epidural and did not really prepare or have the support to go unmedicated so I think that’s where I went wrong this time around I’ve been preparing more but if you have the support to get you though the contractions and are prepared our bodies are amazing and can get us through it without it

I did have an epidural but it didn’t work so had to carry on without.
I really struggled with the pain but it was my second pregnancy so I had something to compare the pain to.
With your first you don’t know what to expect so you won’t know any different pain wise.
I did use the pain relief that you press the button (similarly as you would the epidural) and it gives a shot of pain relief as you have the contraction and only works for that moment (can’t remember the name of it) Was helpful, as I didnt want to use gas and air as it made me very sick in first pregnancy and didn’t want the pethidine injection in my leg as can make baby drowsy

I didn't want an epideral either; wanted to be all natural for my first baby. After 24 of my almost 48 hours of active labor and some sage advice from my aunt "there are no medals for having a natural birth"- I got the epidural and was very glad I did. I say go in with a plan but adapt as needed.

i went into labor naturally today ! and had no epidural or IV meds and pushed for 3hrs. he had to tear me manually and vacuum baby bc his heart rate kept dropping but everything went good and me and baby are okay! i hate ppl who say that bc it is all preference im glad i didnt get medicated like i wanted but everyone is different and i personally have a high pain tolerance that definitely played a part in me sticking to continuing all natural! im sorry that happened to you as i hope all mammas dont get pressured to do something that dont want during their deliveries.
