Hi ladies 😊
Not so much of a child related question but at the same time very child related 😁 what do you do for living??
I’ve been in retail for over 10 years and after 2nd child i’m back but it’s getting a bit much with all the cost cuts, less staff more workload, just a little overwhelming but i came back because im in a managerial position where i can work flexible working hours (4 days) and still get paid very well so it was a no brainer really but i’ve been thinking about doing something else where i can nicely balance my life in between being a mum, working and having an actual private life too. Share with me please what do you do and how did you get there and how does it work out for you 😊
Thanks

I work in communications. I also write, but it’s nearly impossible to make a proper living doing that, but comms is close as there’s a lot of content creation involved. Worrying time with AI though… Not sure what the landscape will look like after my maternity leave.

Starting a online business at home, as now lots of employers In the office want everyone back in, things have changed compared to a few years ago so flexibility seems minimal but a usual 4 day week may now be standard work practice

My place is rolling out three days in the office during my maternity leave. I want to go back three days part time, so not sure where that leaves me as things are very up in the air with it.

I think you will still be allowed to request flexible working, hopefully the work place should try and accomodate the request if you can just do 1 day in the office the rest at home or additionally negotiate to use your annual leave to cover a 1 or 2 days, if your manager is really good maybe discuss it before hands but sometimes coming back after a long time off, their needs etc changes but you will always have your maternity rights and flexibility rights too

Yes, just not sure if I’ll need to be in all three days. My current manager won’t be here when I get back, so that leaves things a bit limboey, so will just cross that bridge when I come to it.
