41w+5 days today and I’m at my wits end. I have tried absolutely everything. Started cramping on Wednesday and contractions start on Friday, but still no baby ( still having contractions) .
Midwife tried a sweep on Thursday, decided not to go ahead, as my cervix had soften and was already loosing the mucus plug.
Went into hospital yesterday, as I had been cramping/ contracting for a few days and just wanted to know how much I had dilated.
It’s was horrendous, had to have a speculum examination ( it was extremely painful, which had never been a problem for me before ), and was told that she couldn’t see my cervix, again something I had never heard before.
I asked for a sweep and for someone to check how dilated I was, they tried another sweep and this time was told that my cervix was closed, and then told minutes later that I could’ve been 4cm dilated. Which makes no sense, I feel like a complete failure and am so worried that I’m hurting my baby and that my body isn’t doing its job.
Want to book an induction, but I’m terrified as I’ve heard nothing but traumatic stories. Could anyone that’s had one tell me their experience? Was baby ok at the end? Did you end up needing an assisted birth?

Had an induction but ended up going for c section

My first baby was an induced birth... it took 5 days and ended in an emergency episiotomy due to little one reacting badly to the hormone drip. My second birth was completely natural and spontaneous. It was a far more pleasant experience and recovery was a lot more straight forward. If little one is seeming okay, I would avoid induction and trust that your baby knows when to be born. I know its so hard at this point... (both of mine were almost 2 weeks over) but try to trust your body 🙏 inductions aren't always straight forward x

I had an induction which led to a very fast labour and no assistance needed in birth. I found it to be a positive experience x
thank you xx
glad to hear you had a positive experience xx
how was your recovery?

Very smooth

Friend had a postive induction a few months ago - she ask to do a half dose of the drip. It was much more gentle than her first induction and she said it was really positive and not too fast. Her hospital was supportive of this approach.
