Just after a bit of advice - my son started his settling in sessions last week and he did pretty well considering, but of course has come down with a cold 😅 he doesn’t have a temperature but is quite snotty, he was a little upset with it yesterday but seems a bit better today.
He is supposed to be doing a morning session at nursery tomorrow and I’m not sure whether to send him in? I don’t want him to be under the weather at nursery and for it to be a bad experience for him so early on, but don’t want to lose momentum with settling in to nursery either. And also don’t really understand the etiquette with sending him to nursery with a cold, as ideally I don’t want him to spread it but also most the kids there were full of snots when we visited 😅 What would you do?

I think go! Unfortunately since starting nursery my son has had a permanent snotty nose - unless it’s d&v nursery policy is usually to send them in. As long as he’s happy in himself I would keep going!

Yeah I think you’re right, people keep telling me it’s something I need to get used to haha thank you ☺️

I second what said. As long as well within himself send him. They’ll be sure to call you if he’s not ok.

it’s been three months of a snotty nose and cough for us so far 😭

The nursery should have guidelines of what is acceptable or not to send them in. I'm sure they see it all the time. It's quite different sending a kid in with a cold Vs chickenpox for example. Hope he settles well xx

yikes! In a couple weeks time this will just be so normal to me won’t it 🥹

you’re right, every drop off so far I’ve been like RING MEEEEEEEEE! 🤣 I’m sure they would call, thank you ☺️

yeah the guidelines is coughs/colds are ok with no temperature and if they are able to cope with the nursery day, which I suppose we will find out tomorrow! Just feels strange to me leaving him there when he isn’t well, I suppose again it’s something I will need to get used to. Thank you ☺️

Yes the guideline to ours is take them in, if they have a temp then they give calpol and still has the temp, they’ll send them home. So far we’ve had hand foot and mouth, colds permanently, bronchiolitis twice (currently in hospital been on oxygen with it!) urine infection, and throat and ear infection… she started in January 😂🙈 xx

My baby has basically had a constant cold since January 😩 but nursery are fine with that as long as there is no temperature.

I’d say go but double check their policy perhaps prior as they’re fast to send them home.

oh wow that sounds tough! I hope your little one is feeling better soon xx

Thank you for the advice everyone, and also a bit of an eye opener of what might be to come 😅 xx
