Looking for advice, I’m being induced at 38 weeks and baby is on the 10th centile. Has anyone else had a baby around this time on the 10th centile and can tell me roughly what weight they were?
Just trying to decide if I’ll need some tiny baby clothes. Currently 33 weeks ☺️

I think my daughter was but she was born on the 25th percentile (4 weeks early) and she weighed a tiny 5lbs 5oz. I had to go out and buy some tiny baby clothes the following day x

Why are you being induced so early if baby is so small?

because I had a traumatic labour with my last baby with a retained placenta and haemorrhage and she’s also breech x

I was induced at 39 bc baby was measuring small and wasn’t showing enough growth and that she was benefiting anymore from being in there. Can’t remember the percentile but she has always been showing small and her weight was 6 lbs even but dropped to 5 by the time we left the hospital. We def used a few premie clothes so maybe go grab some onesies but wouldn’t get a ton bc she grew out of them fairly quickly.

yes that’s what I’m thinking, just some vests and gro’s- thank you x

If she’s breech would they not be doing a c-section rather than an induction?x

oh so cute 🥰
Amazing thank you, more shopping for me ☺️

I was always going in for induction, we’ve just found out she’s breech so electing for an ECV firstly to move her. The plan is still induction but if she doesn’t then then it will be a c-section yes

I’ve seen reels on IG where they’ve successfully managed to turn a breech baby. I’ve also seen stories of where she had a vaginal birth and baby’s legs came out first. Both scenarios very possible. All my babies have been 10-30th% and no one mentioned anything about them being too small or induction. First baby came 9 days early at 5”4lbs. She was in prem clothes yes. I would try to turn the baby and avoid the induction. But that’s me.

the induction is not for the breech, it’s because I had a traumatic labour last time and haemorrhaged. And I labour fast so they don’t want me to go into labour away from the hospital

yeah my second baby had retained placenta, she shoved her arm all the way up me trying to get the last bits out so I wouldn’t have to go into theatre. I didn’t find it traumatic though, just very bloody painful at the time. But do what you think is best 🙂

Ah right I was just interested☺️x

mine was a little more traumatic, left for 3 hours to try and deliver my placenta and bleeding. I had to go to theatre. Was without my newborn for hours. I then had bladder issues and had to go home with a catheter. I still have ongoing bladder issues

My youngest son who is 15 months he was in the 10th percentile. I was induced at 38 weeks exactly. He was born at 5 pounds 11 ounces. He was and still is very healthy! He is thriving! You and your baby will do great!❤️❤️❤️ Try not to worry and just relax lots when you’re able to. 🥰. Also, he fit preemie size sleepers very nicely! I know it depends on the brand. Newborn fit but were just a little loose but still were fine.

ahh lovely to hear thank you x

I'm getting induced at 36 weeks and my baby is in the 60th percentile and she's projected to be 6lbs 10-13oz. So yes you're likely to need tiny little clothes 🥰

My first was born at 38 weeks - 9th centile exactly 6lbs. We needed tiny baby clothes for him. Asda bits are good! Also keep in mind a third of babies are breech at 28 weeks. Only 3-4 out of 100 are breech at 40 wks. Still plenty of time to turn (I'm a qualified hypnobirthing antenatal teacher) x

oh amazing, if you have any tips please dm me. Thank you x

My baby was born at 38 weeks and she was 2nd centile but was 5lb 9oz. My baby went home in newborn but we did get some tiny baby bits in the end.
