How else can I be accepted onto housing unless I get a section 21 if I private rent? Absolutely sick of paying double / triple rent when I’m a single person on low income part time- and being stuck in this sh*tty game. I was told years ago

It is really hard too get onto housing you have too hit certain criteria and even then when you do hit it your not guranteed a house straight away if you do get made homeless the council dont have too offer you a house my friend has been in a hotel for over 2 years

It is, it’s a joke. I’ve private rented for 15 years but the prices keep going up and up. It wouldn’t be so bad if the allowance was more for PR than council prices meh! My landlord will probably never kick me out lol! Yeah it’s bad isn’t it, my friend was only put in temp accommodation for 6 weeks thankfully but she didn’t get to his and got put in the most awful area. Meh

Yeah i looked into private renting a 3 bed and most prices were 1100 but council price for same area was 680

it’s like 1,400 here 3 bed even for like bad areas it’s like wtf? Crazy ! I pay double what my next door does council 🫠

Are you able to get universal credit? They will give towards your rent in that even if private rented

They do some, but I also have more than 2 kids; so also get the benefit cap, but also don’t get like extra towards the house just because it’s private, as there’s a limit they will pay towards which is the same amount council or private, so I am rinsed lol

Have you looked into local housing associations? It’s impossible to get on the council waiting list here but I was able to get a flat with a housing association with a small wait, and the rent with housing associations are similar to council
