Gestational Diabetes

Has anyone had this before or going through this? It’s my second pregnancy and I didn’t have it with my first. If anything I’ve lost weight during pregnancy and I’m a size U.K. 12 so it has come as a shock. My blood levels are 8.5.

Were you induced earlier as they’ve said baby is measuring 2-3 weeks ahead and they want to discuss possibly induction depending on future growth scans which are now booked for every 3 weeks! I am currently 30 weeks x

I am going through it, I am now on insulin too, it seems no matter what we do medication wise it stops working after 2/3 days max, I am waiting on our growth scan on the 28th to talk to the consultant, I am an elective c section after my emergency one last time and my midwife said it’s likely it will be brought forward to 37/38 weeks x

For me I had it in my first but I don’t have it this pregnancy. For some people it’s purely hormonal based. I’m a size 10 normally so came as a such surprise for me last time!! But for some it’s placenta driven, so don’t put any type of “blame” on yourself, there’s nothing you could have done. It just happens to some of us!

You’ll get frequent growth scans and yes generally they like baby to come earlier. Partly down to baby size but also in your scans they’ll monitor the blood flow to baby from placenta. The bigger risk is placenta failure later in pregnancy which is why they’re often keen to induce / elective c section at 39 weeks while the placenta is still working well.

I’d really recommend going to Gestational Diabetes UK website, so much great info there! They also have a FB group which was so so helpful for me with diet tips and managing blood sugars and lots of very positive induction stories!

Yes I had it from 24 weeks, was induced 10 days early. Advised baby measuring past 99th percentile and that he would be 10lb.. born 8.2lb. So take measurement with a pinch of salt. Fasting overnight blood sugar levels are harder to control and I had to use insulin. My after meal readings were easily controlled through diet.

I have GD. I had my GTT early because of PCOS. I’ve been on Metformin since I was about 16 weeks as my fasting sugars were always slightly out of range. I’ve been on insulin for about 2 weeks now for the same reason. Your weight doesn’t have much to do with you having GD. I’ve had growth scans at 24 and 28 weeks. Next one will be at 32 weeks. No mention of induction or concerns of baby’s growth.

How many of you had your c sections rescheduled?

So I'm choosing to have a c section this time around because I had an emergency c section after being induced last time. That was less than 2 years ago so I don't think it's a good idea to try again. I'm really nervous it's gonna be rescheduled bcs I have my sister taking time off work to help me out with the baby in the hospital since my husband will have to go home to be with our toddler at night. Also my husband starts his leave on that day so I don't want him to lose any more days. So I'm just wondering how common this is. I'm in the US in NJ

Unwell after sweep

I’ve had a sweep earlier today, lost the mucus plug about a couple hours later. Got period type cramping immediately, I hadn’t even left the midwife appointment yet. I have contractions and permanent back cramping, alongside waves of nausea - which is a combination I’m struggling with as I feel quite unwell. Nowhere near labour, as I’ve had 6 contractions in the span of 3 hours or so. A midwife told me sweeps cause really bad cramping, so I assumed it was normal. But just want to check if there’s anybody out there in a similar boat? Should I be calling the hospital to check if it’s all normal?

39 Week Induction Being Pushed On

Went to my 36 week appointment today and my OB was pushing for a 39 week induction.

I want a natural spontaneous labor but my OB kept pushing for the induction even if I’m low risk and healthy. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Has your life become a living nightmare since becoming a mom?

Sometimes I become conscious of the fact that I just have to wake up tomorrow morning and do this all over again. Every day. And then I wanna bash my head into a brick wall
