My little one is now 5 months old, since about 6-8 weeks he’s been great in his own bed. The last week, he’s been in his own bed (a small cot next to our bed) for 2-3 hours, then as soon as myself and my partner get in bed, he wakes up. We give him his feed, then he won’t go back to bed, he’ll fall asleep on one of us, then as soon as he’s put down, he wakes up and screams.
Any tips for getting him through this?
I’m apprehensive to do the cry it out method. I’ve left him crying for 5-10 minutes but he doesn’t calm, he just screams until he can’t breathe, which I can’t handle, so he’ll end up being picked up and soothed. I’m more disciplined and will keep trying to put him in bed, however my partner will end up falling asleep with him in bed and he stays there all night, which obviously isn’t ideal for many reasons.
(No judgement please, we’re exhausted and baby is always safe)

Have you tried putting baby in his own room? With both of ours, we found that we were disturbing them when we went to bed, but once in their room they slept better

not yet, his bedroom is a bit of a storage room at the moment as we’re in the process of moving 🫠

@Lan could you put the cot in another room? we had my son in a mini crib in the living room for awhile until we moved it to my bro's room (he's away at college rn)

doesn't have to be fancy or anything. just a place where he isn't disturbed as much.

Yeah, I’m going to agree with the above. I’d try putting him in a separate room. As soon as we put my little boy in his own room he started sleeping so much better x

It’s not a case of being in a different room, he’s unsettled even when we aren’t in there. He just wants constant cuddles, which is lovely but it’s also not!

Would you be comfortable trying to co-sleep? If so, I'd recommend looking into the "seven steps to safe cosleeping"

we did when he was younger, but we struggled to sleep, so he went in his own bed.
He was better last night though!
