I’ve seen lots of people been told 18m but my surgeon told me 12! I’m so confused haha
@Sarah how do you know you had minimal internal scarring & no uterus thinning? What checks did they do for you? I had an emergency c section and following on from this all I’ve had is a couple of midwives look at my scar
@Yolande when pregnant with baby 2 the obstetrician didn’t even know I’d had a previous section during an ultrasound till I told him, he said I had barely any internal scar tissue visible on the scan. You can see adhesions and bad keloid apparently. When I had my second section my surgeon told me that internally I looked fine and my uterus wasn’t thinned so she’s happy for me to have 3/4 if that’s how I heal xx

I got pregnant 9 months after my first c section and aside from risks from my last one, everything went all okay. But healing from the second c section was more painful than the first and took longer for me.
@Harriet I was also told 12 minimum but they said ideally 18 🤷🏻♀️
Risks are things like high rate of miscarriage, uterine ruptures, increased aches and pains during pregnancy, thinning uterus, keloid scarring stretching due to not being healed enough, high risk pregnancy and less chance of a VBAC. I was told 18m to conceive is best but after my second section I was given green light to wait 9m to conceive safely (so birth at 18m). But I wanted 2.5 years between births and had minimal scarring internally and no uterus thinning.
