Birth Anxiety

I am 38+5 and have started having some intense fear and near panic at the thought of giving birth. I am not sure how to handle this fear and I am dreading contractions or my water breaking. I want to have my baby but I am really struggling. I hate needles and don’t like being on an IV because I feel trapped. The epidural will also make me feel trapped because I can’t walk or use my legs and then when I do give birth you are stuck at the hospital for at least another 24-48 hours in a room with a tiny glass window. The entire process makes me uneasy and panicky 😞 Any advice or anyone else go through this before birth?

You can have an at home birth! Or birthing centers! Hospital isn’t the only option

You can request a walking IV too.

Get a walking iv. The epidural they give you closer to the end when you actually need it so you won’t feel “trapped” cause well you likely weren’t gonna be walking around with those intense contractions anyways lol. It’ll give so much relief. It all seems really scary but it’s not, you’re strong and you can do it! You’ll be exhausted after and a hospital stay will be nice. You get waited on hand and foot! Bring some stuff to distract you if you need

I agree^ I had twins and then a singleton. For the twins I was sooo nervous. For my single baby, i was wanting to stay in the hospital longer bc it was like a vacay 😂. Both times they brought me snacks and juices and checked up on me. They changed my babies’ diapers and helped me to the bathroom and didn’t let me feel bad or ashamed. I’m superrr scared of needles too, so that was pretty hard for me both times but I understood it needed to be done so I just had to do it. Just have to wing that part haha. And you may not need to get the epidural or may want to wait until last minute. That’s what I did, I waited until I NEEDED it. Then it was a blessing lol. But anyways, best of luck!!
