Pushchair Advice

Hi all, My daughter is four months old, with excellent head control but can’t sit yet. Is she ok to be in a pushchair (cosatto giggle 2, see pic) at this age or should I wait until 6 months/sitting and stick to the bassinet pram attachment? My MIL is out with her right now in it, as they insisted. I accidentally forgot the strap cushions but she’s got the rest, plus the foot cover and is safely strapped in from what I could tell. But I’m worried about positional asphyxia if she falls asleep and slumps her head forward 😭

I personally wouldn’t move baby to pushchair until 6 months old, but I’ve seen many mums do x

I woudl personally wait till she is 6 months but the jeloux stroller is front and back facing and from birth to 4 years so some are only designed from 6 months

@Aqsa this one you can face towards you, which is what I instructed when my MIL took her out so at least there’s that. But from the comments ill likely use the bassinet myself until 6m 😊 I just hope she’s ok for this one time aha

I had this pram with my eldest, and he was in it from 4-5months, I just made sure that it was on the recline so he was still basically laid flat x

My baby is 5 months and in the pushchair bit. It reclines so she's not sat completely straight upright. Facing towards me. I changed it when she got 5 months because she was so curious and loved being able to see more. She can't sit completely yet but she's fine in it. If she's tired and dropping off I just recline it back further so she can sleep. I'm sure she'll be fine. If she's got the head control and can lift her head she'll be ok for today. If you're not comfortable just switch it back!

@Bethan thank you, this eased my anxiety a bit. I’ll see how she goes today, might give her a bit longer in the bassinet just to be safe I reckon.😅 She’s also a curious baby so I bet she loved it though aha

The first switch up is always anxiety riddled. I still just play it by how comfortable she is. I was really anxious about switching before 6 months and was making excuses. Then I propped her up in the basinet once to be able to push her from one side of the library room to the other and she LOVED it and that clinched it for me 😂

I’d use her main pushchair for now if you have a travel system with the car seat, Moses basket etc and then transfer to a stroller type one when a bit older

@Bethan aw bless her aha, and yeah everything I do to do with her for the first time gives me anxiety, I suppose it’s part of being a mum! I think her grandparents (both sets) forget about that lol.

I’ve had my son in the pushchair seat bit but facing towards me since he was 3 months but I always had him laying back as he would constantly scream in the bassinet I used the mother care journey and then move to the egg when he was 4 months

You say they insisted, but you and your partner are the parents here. If you're not comfortable with something to do with your child then don't allow it. If people overstep boundaries there need to be appropriate consequences like not seeing them again until they agree to stick to the boundaries. Your baby is only young and they're going to overstep more as they get older. Set thr boundaries now.

My 6m old can sit up unaided but still slumps and sleeps in these, I've switched to a joie litrax because it lies fully back and up to 25kg

I moved my daughter into a pushchair when she was 3 months as she was hardly fitting into the bassinet. I just almost lied it down, she was in reclined position and still is now at 6.5 months but I don't recline her as far as I used to.

My girl has been in a stroller like this since 3 months no bother! But when she falls asleep in it, I tilt it back so it’s basically flat. Does this not have that feature? I thought most did

@Jess I need to check tomorrow, I couldn’t figure out how to make it do that earlier😅

We had this pram for my first and loved it! He was in the seat bit from just over 3 months as you can basically lie it flat and just tilt it up for small amounts of time x

Does it lay completely flat? My LG had amazing head control from birth and could sit up from 3 months with minimal support so from 2 months she was in the seat unit of our joie finiti. When she was awake she’d be sitting up a little not all the way but she loved looking around and then when she’d fall asleep I could lay it flat x

I put my 4 month old in the pushchair part as she started to hate the bassinet and would cry , she faced towards me and I lay it back mostly x and she’s 8 months now and completely fine and still loves it x
