Thank you. I’ve had my consultation and signed my consent forms super early as I was under prem prevention but they said my call with the date wouldn’t be until closer to the time. They said it should be from my 39th week onwards. But I was wondering what others have experienced. Good to know how happens when you get there. How long were you in recovery for?
I think they usually call at least within 2 weeks of your expected delivery week. They don’t go too far in advance for some reason. I was in recovery for about 2 hours which is pretty standard I had to have some extra monitoring for BP but I was the only one in there so it was really calm and quiet.
From signing consent forms etc. I got a call the next day to be given a date but I was told it can be around a week to hear. I was given my date at 35 ish weeks and had baby at 37 +3. C section was on a Wednesday and told to be there at 7am and had baby at 9.39am as I was first on the list due to having GD however the other lady that arrived at 7am didn’t have hers until 1pm so depends where you are on the order but they will tell you when you arrive to set expectations. When you arrive you basically sit in a waiting room so would advise don’t take too much stuff as you don’t have anywhere to put it until you go to the ward after the recovery ward time. They do all the observations and anaesthetic team and surgeon will come speak to you before hand. It is all very calm and relaxed. Had a really good experience at the LRI for an elective c section.
