I had a ring for my lb before he was one and realised he'd be too big for it now so I got a swim suit with floats in but haven't tried it yet, but I also got a jacket with arm bands on amazon as my older nephew has a similar one I'll see if I can put up a link the strap makes it so much better as it can't rise up like I found the zoggs float jacket did and kept sticking up under my lbs chin he's 18 months old now and a complete water baby really has no fear of water absolutely loves it!

Inflatables are actually quite dangerous, so I wouldn't buy one. Armbands are safer

100% agree with this! I’m a swim teacher, stick to arm bands (and do avoid vests if possible as can put children in strange positions, however can be good on holidays incase LO jumps in pool or can take armbands off themselves)
What sort of armbands? I'm just worried he is going to freak out when getting in the pool, How would you recommend getting him in there, should I get in the pool first and my husband pass him to me with his arm bands already on? Sorry for silly questions just have no idea x

Best ones are the yellow foam ones, as more movement for arms! However blow up ones are great as they’re harder to get off.
If he is walking, I’d fully dress in changing room, carry to pool side then let him walk into pool (If it has an area that it is possible) if not sit on edge with him and splash on edge til he’s ready to get in! But yes I’d have your husband just ahead, so your LO will see him get in, and then he can be in the pool and you can splash dad together x

My little boy has the foam ring ones. If your little boy can walk, then just hold his hand and let him walk into the pool if it is one that you can walk into. With his armbands already on, of course.
He isn't walking yet x

Then just carry him in with his armbands on x
