Sweep at 39 week appointment

I am being induced 39 + 6 I’m 38+4 today and asked about sweep before induction. After discussing as pros and cons she explained it most likely won’t do much and if I’m comfortable to wait for induction.
She told me that sweeps are more likely used once past due date.

Advice may be different where you are? Are you being induced? X

Went for my midwife appointment yesterday at 39+6, booked in for a sweep on Saturday which is 40+4. They said would do a sweep sat/mon/wed and induce the following Friday at +10 days if nothing happening x

I just want to see what my cervix is doing! I think you can get a sweep if you're low risk where i am. Not being induced unless I'm 41 weeks.

I had a sweep last Monday when I was 38+6 and I was 1cm dilated, lost my bloody mucus plug & had some cramps/back ache but no other progress.
Had another sweep yesterday at 39+6, lost more bloody mucus and was having contractions all night ranging from 5-10 mins apart but then they’ve died off this morning.
Everyone’s different & everyone’s body is different. I had a sweep with my daughter 11 years ago & it worked straight away I went into labour a few hour later. No labour is the same & I’d personally rather try a few sweeps then going straight for induction x

Yeah I'm hoping to get one tomorrow and if I need one, another one next week too. I agree with you that I'd rather try a sweep than a full induction 😊

I had one sweep yesterday at 38+6 ! Before they did it I was already with 2cm dilation! And I’m struggling with back pain since! I have an induction booked for tomorrow but went for a big walk to see if it does the trick!

@Ines very similar here. Had one today at 38+6. Induction booked for two days time so didn't think it would hurt to try. Community midwife was going to do it for me too.

My daughter was born today at 1:35am! Fingers crossed for you!
