First day potty training nightmare - help/advice

My little boy has been showing all the signs he is ready to start and I’ve put it off long enough. Today we had so many accidents both poos and wees, he had a few successful attempts but that was because I was taking him every 30 mins not because he was telling me himself. I don’t even think he is aware when he needs to wee or when he is doing it. I ended up breaking down crying after cleaning up the last poo that went everywhere. I am now debating if I should stop and wait but his nursery that he’s going to attend needs him fully trained by September. Doesn’t help that I’m 6 weeks pregnant because the hormones are hormoning - any advice, is this normal?

I had the same with our son, I’m not going to lie we are 6 weeks in and it’s not great but I’m glad we’ve stuck at it. He was showing all the signs for readiness to. Poo’s are still an issue but wee’s he still needs prompting but is getting better. He absolutely refused wear a nappy after wearing pants for a few days which is why we stuck at it.

I potty trained our daughter in December. Day 1 was all accidents but then it clicked overnight! Hope you have a better day 2 :-) This is how it went for us…

Hello, everything is normal. My son has been out of diapers for a long time, but he can sometimes wet himself. Don't worry, he will learn gradually. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Totally normal, especially with boys! Even as adult men they miss the toilet a lot of the time 😂 I tried potty training my 3rd recently, it was clear he wasn’t ready, so I’m waiting a bit longer, he’s 3 in August. His nursery have kids well into 3 who still aren’t potty trained. They’re all different and, from training my eldest 2, I can confirm it just clicks one day and it’s not a battle. My oldest is a boy, he took an age but when he did get it, it was done, no nighttime accidents either. My second is a girl, she got it pretty immediately and much younger but took a while to get dry at night. They’re all different.
