We’ve not done proper modelling but my oldest was a brand rep for some small clothing businesses when he was younger, if you’re worried about the idea of that maybe try that first? You don’t get paid for it but you get the clothes heavily discounted in order to take pictures in them for the company to use on their website and it’s good if you’re wanting to build a kind of portfolio xx
I’m actually in a modelling group on fb because I’ve been told the same, everyone basically says modelling at this age is an expensive hobby unfortunately! If you live in London it isn’t as bad but otherwise you have to pay to go to castings, fittings etc and then may not even get the job so won’t make any money plus there are sooo many on their books you may not ever get a job either.
Hi there, I used to be a model booker and I’d book child & baby models too. You should always be paid for shoots if the images are used for advertising and for your time. Make sure you apply to a reputable agency. You usually aren’t paid to go to castings but some companies use agencies outside of London and book directly from images. Babies don’t need portfolios because they change so much just updated images from the agent.
@Roseanna yes absolutely! I have a brand and book models (women) so have a bit of an idea from the client perspective, but I know there are so many more rules around babies and kids on shoots. We are in Herts so easy to get to London for castings. There would be a cost but not crazy. Are there any agencies you particularly recommend or what should I look for/ask to know if they’re reputable?
@Lauryn interesting! I’m not interested if it’s a lot of hassle to get work, I don’t need more on my plate 😅
https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1EdXpHJVNm/?mibextid=wwXIfr This group is really helpful. It lets you know about scams and the different agencies etc too
I am a photographer and do model updates sometimes for children. Definitely follow the Facebook group that was mentioned above. It’s a lots of scams around but also lovely agencies and amazing opportunities. My friends boy is signed since he was 6m old now he is 10 and travelled the world, has been on Netflix movies, music videos, huge brands ads. He absolutely loves it.
That’s so good you can get to London easily. I haven’t been an agent for about 7 years so a little out of touch but I used to work with the owner of Ray & Robin, Bruce & Brown, MOT I think do babies, Bonnie & Betty. Most commercial agencies do babies and children but three of the above specialise in children apart from MOT I believe.. 😊
I was wondering about this too and interested in reputable agencies
