Is it the 1 hour or 3 hour test?

@Joselyn I believe just the 1 hour

I just had mine last Fri. Is yours in the morning? Mine was around 9am. I was told not to fast but also not to eat a sugary breakfast (like cereal). The drink isn’t as bad as you think (reminded me of Gatorade). I passed, no issues.

@Krystal, yes, mine is in the morning, and what would you recommend I eat for a breakfast and that's not too bad. Hopefully, I pass 🤞🙏

Don't eat or drink anything after you drink until you've gotten your blood drawn. I put my water out of reach so I wouldn't forget lol

@Kaylen Cooke Honestly, I had a banana and water before the appt, then ate what I wanted afterwards.🤷🏻‍♀️ Good luck!

I would suggest walking for 10-20 mins after taking the drink. I recently failed my 1hr and I’m realizing there are a few things I could’ve done better!

Eat a simple breakfast no sugar. Whole grain bread with some eggs avocado. Nothing sweet…

You have to fast for at least 8 hrs prior to the test, you can’t eat or drink during, you shouldn’t walk around after taking the drink because it can falsely lower your results, and afterwards you might have an upset stomach. I have had two now and had a very upset stomach the first time and slightly after the second. Good luck Mama!

Verify if it is fasting or not fasting. My last one was not fasting.

Breakfast should be 2 hours prior to your test and make sure it’s super high in protein! I don’t eat eggs so I had ground beef and cheese lmaoooo. I also always wake up early to make sure I get my water intake and I know I had about 60oz of water an hour before too. I passed! And bring a carb snack for after! Protein in the morning, massive sugar intake, you need to balance it. It’ll help, trust me.

@Emily I was told water was ohkay & I failed 😭

I normally don’t eat prior. Every time I’ve ate before, I come out very high. Regardless if there’s a two hour gap. Crazy thing is with my previous pregnancies I was always told to fast. I just did mine two weeks ago and I passed with flying colors. It tastes like a drink with EXTRAA SUGAR. I normally chug it in one go so I don’t have to taste it again

@Haley have you ever told your OB this ? They prescribed me medicine for the nausea, which helped me a lot with not feeling so nasty afterwards. Also not sure about the walking, when I failed a couple years ago and had to do the three hour one there is no issues with me walking at all. However, with the one hour one I’m usually in the clinic so I just wait there an hour.

@Gina oh no, I'm so sorry! 😭

They told me to eat some breakfast but nothing with sugar, even natural sugar. I usually eat an apple or orange

Yes no fruit at all… I had breakfast and passed my test for my last pregnancy. This pregnancy however I was fasting and failed.

I was told to fast and only a few sips of water if possible ahead of my blood drawn. I drew my blood at 8am so I didn’t have to be starving 😂

I was told to fast before mine. I was starving!!! Then I got there and they told me I didn’t need to fast and the lady scheduling messed up…just my luck lol

You should find out which one you’re doing. I think the one hour one you don’t have to fast, but the 2 and 3 hour one you have to fast. I just did the 2 hour one and had to fast.

@Nami its the one hour one for me

My midwife told me to fast at least 2 hours before. I bought the fresh test instead of taking the drink they provide because I don’t like the ingredients in it

Hi @Kaylen Cooke - how did your glucose test go?

@Krystal I get results back next week. The drink was not too bad and the hour went by quickly. I'm not a fan of needles so they gave me the butterfly one and it was quick and painless

@Kaylen Cooke Glad to hear that! Fingers crossed!
