Hot shot

Guys I’ve stopped breastfeeding and now full time with formula. I’ve been mixing my daughters formula with sterilise water from b my the kettle but all over TikTok people are using the hotshot method. I’m so confused I don’t know what’s the easiest way to do that method when I’m out and about. I just keep hot water in the bottle and it will cool down by the time she’s ready to drink it then I mix it with the formula is that bad?

So the water needs to be boiling when mixing with the formula not cold. For hotshot method use 2-3oz boiling water, add formula and mix. Then top up with cooled boiled water to the amount you want in the bottle. This is how the prep machine works. It can also be done with the rapidcool because the rapidcool can cool the boiled water faster than waiting for the kettle to cool.

So the reason people hot shot is to kill the bacteria in the formula :) if you want to take the bottle out and just give when she’s ready I’d put the formula in as soon as you pour the water in so it cools down together but you’ve also killed the bacteria. I use the nuby rapid cool when I’m out and about and hot shot with boiling water in a flask :)

You can also get nuby rapid cool. We do that and use boiling water and formula, mix it altogether in the rapid cool and instantly ready to drink. You do have to sterilise the rapid cool after using it that way though whereas you don't with hot shot.

@Georgia oh so how would you sterilise it when your out and you’ve used it. Can it was used more than once?

So we’ve worked out a way that you don’t have to sterilise Nuby out and about. Measure out boiling water from flask in bottle. Pour most of boiling water into Nuby. Add formula to little bit of hot water left in bottle (hot shot). Shake Nuby which cools rest of water. Add rest of water to bottle. Shake. Hope that makes sense xx

The Nuby can be used as many times as need but needs to have time to cool between. Think it needs 2/3 hours rest. (So I think lots of people have 2). I have a prep machine at home. X

Note: I do sterilise Nuby every evening with sterilising tablets. But don’t need to do out and about because it’s only had boiling water in, no formula. (Sorry for multiple comments)

We actually have 2 so you can alternate whilst out and then sterilise properly when home. I personally found that easier than the hot shot xx l

I have the rapid cool flask but rarely use it. I usually have hot water in a flask (I own 2 flasks to make it easier for myself). I have a container with cold preboiled water already measured, for example for 210ml of formula, I would use 110ml of hot water and 100ml of room temperature preboiled water. So when she is hungry, I tip formula powder into her bottle, then use empty container to measure hot water, add to the bottle, then tip cold water inside the bottle, close and shake.
