That from 12 weeks I need asprin and blood thinning injections from 28 weeks and a canular when I go in to labour and growth scans from 28 weeks till I give birth just felt so ashamed off being very over wright xx
Oh bless your heart. Ya that’s a lot to take in. Won’t look forward to that convo then. Don’t ever be ashamed, people are all sorts of sizes and doesn’t mean your unhealthy. I know a lady who is really slim really flat tum and ONLY eats biscuits cakes and wine as her main food groups through a day. She’s so unhealthy but is constantly told she’s slim there for it’s no issue. Be kind to yourself your growing a little one ❤️ xx
Sorry they've made you feel so negative, I was very much a plus size mum for my first and I'm even bigger now so I'm sure that I'll have the same telling off when I go to the midwife next week. Hopefully those are all just worst case scenarios that they have to tell you about and you don't have to end up doing them - however, having gone through IVF I can 100% say that giving yourself injections is really not that bad, I'm week 8 of 12 weeks of daily progesterone shots and you honestly get used to it pretty quickly. Do you have any history of pre-eclampsia or gestational diabetes which might explain why they're being so cautious with you? As the previous poster said though, don't worry about your weight right now and just be kind to yourself, it's stressful enough as it is x
Not the midwife but consultant made me feel so bad the last time. I am diabetic too so going to hospital midwives clinic aswll as community. They are ok but dr ya they made me feel so bad every time I had the scan. I am on week 7 and already start taking aspirin, vitamin d and multi vitamins aswll as bp and insulin. Last time my blood thinner started at week 26 I am assuming it’s the same this time and I had to take them until after six weeks of delivery. Had scan every month and this time I already had a scan last week. Dnt worry they just do extra care for us as we are extra protected 😂😂😂 hugs you are not alone x
Follow the heavyweightmidwife on instagram. Having a high BMI alone DOES NOT increase your risks in pregnancy. I’m sorry your midwife made you feel this way
@Kat nope I've never had pre eclampsia or diabetes so this all new to me .. and this is my 4th child so really shocked it's like this x
@Abbie yes I will have a look at that now thankyou so much x
@Wish oh bless you .. I'm also on folic acid 5mg I believe they are thankyou for making me not feel so alone in this x
Thankyou ladies for reasuring me and making me feel much calmer and not just so alone in this journey any of you want to message me and do this journey together feel free xx
I had my first pregnancy at 65kg, this one my starting weight was 82kg im 5foot5 for reference. I never lost the baby weight from the first time so my BMI is higher already. Midwife said there wasn't really any additional risks I might just have to have my glucose checked. I'm back at this gym this pregnancy so hoping to lost a little fat and maintain my weight (obviously not going to last long once the baby starts growing).
@Katie I got told the same and I’ll be under a consultant. They shouldn’t have made you feel ashamed and if you don’t agree with how they communicated that information to you, report it so others don’t experience the same. My midwife said she just needed to make me aware that those things might happen such as aspirin etc, and she said it’s just due to my BMI. She didn’t make a big deal out of it at all. I’m sorry they made you feel like that, hopefully you see someone else next time xx
@Georgia so wish I had your midwife she sounds so much better then mine yeah I complained and said she made me.feel so uncomfortable so I have a new one now fingers crossed she's nicer I get to meet her tomorrow xx
@Katie i got told the same! we get extra scans! think of that as a win!!🩷
@Torie that is a massive win but she spoke to me like I've never had kids i have given birth 3 times before and always been plus size xx

I’m due my first appointment on Tuesday. I’m dreading it as I know my weight will be criticised and it will really get to me. Was there anything in particular that has caused you to be anxious about what she had said, or just all of it? Sending you lots of kindness. Xx
