Have my glucose testing tomorrow

Form nhs online it says ..”have not had any food or drink for 8 to 10 hours (though you can usually drink water, but check with the hospital if you're unsure). “ x https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/gestational-diabetes/

Mine was 12 hours fast then water only.

Mine was stop eating and drinking at 10pm the night before and then just sipping water until after the appointment! I would advise taking something to eat for after the appointment I was starving 😂😂xx

Stop eating from midnight

I've got mine tomorrow at 8.45 and my letter says stop any eating or drinking from 10pm and only sips of water from then. And no meds in the morning which is gonna be a killer as I'm on loads of anti sickness 😭

Mine is stop eating from 10pm and water or black tea/coffee with no sugar after that. Not planning on having the tea or coffee though! Think it would make me really nauseous.

I had my 2nd test last week. I fasted from 9pm - this also includes taking gaviscon/rennies too x

Yeah you do have to fast unfortunately it was quite a lengthy process but i heard negative things from other mamas where they couldnt keep the drink down so they gave me two tests to calm my nerves and i ended up doing the normal test just fine just go with it dont stress but i was so relieved when it was done. You will be fine!!! Keep going mamma you got this.

I think it all depends on your doctor and clinic honestly cause mine said to eat protein or veggies two hours before my appointment in the am and that water was perfectly fine to drink … I know the last time in 2019 when I went in I didn’t eat ( different state and different doc) and I was sooo sick after but this clinic and doc ( Va beach ) directed me to each protein an hour or two before I go in so I’m making an egg with avocado and praying it helps balance out the sugar drink!

How was your test?

I fasted from 8pm as I went to bed anyways and knew I’d want to eat if I didn’t lol but the test was fine, had a few seconds where I felt a bit nauseous but other than that it’s not bad at all you literally go have your blood taken, drink the drink sit for 2 hours, have your bloods taken again and go home. I’d read awful stories about how bad it is, even my midwife pulled a face and said it’s not a nice experience but to be honest it really wasn’t bad at all!

Mine was fine too, though they were running late, which didn’t help the fasting, and there was no tea and biscuits after like they promised! 😣 The drink honestly wasn’t that bad though. Was really scared after all the horror stories. And I don’t have GD so good news too!
