Same. I’m panicky about things that don’t even make sense these days🤦🏼♀️
Also, sorry just making sure you're not laying on your back? Baby can lay on your aorta and cut off blood supply making your heart race and suffocating.
I’m not on my back! I think it’s a combination of actual feeling and then anxiety that tricks me into thinking I’m feeling worse than I am
Yes. Awake from one rn.
I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Panic attacks can be so scary and feel like you’re dying. Are you having a girl by chance? I had panic attacks in my teens and early 20s and hadn’t any in about 5 years before being pregnant with my girl. My midwife thinks it’s the increased estrogen that may be causing them suddenly. I’d have them in the afternoon/early evening. This may seem silly, but using mantras or words of affirmations with deep breathing helped me stop the panic when I started to feel some of the early symptoms. Saying something simple like “I’m okay, my body and baby are okay” over and over really helped me.
@Andreanna im having a boy actually! My medication usually keeps my panic at bay but I think with my hormones and body changing my medication has failed me😭 I changed scenery last night which helped actually but I will try the affirmations as well!!
I’m not someone who usually has anxiety to the point of “as needed medication” and not something I dealt with during my first pregnancy. However something I have found to be true this pregnancy so I went to my OB and she said it’s actually very common for women to have heightened anxiety, etc. primarily when lying down before bed. For me the as needed medication helped a little but I think my hormones balanced out and gave me a breather needles to say I think there’s a strong chance this could be temporary! Edit: I found it to be very heightened in my second to third trimester transition
Hi girl! I’m so sorry you’re going through that , having anxiety & panic attacks on top of being is really hard. I was on medication for panic disorder for a few years before I got pregnant and unfortunately being pregnant has caused my anxiety to flare up (first pregnancy as well). I’ve found the “normal” symptoms of pregnancy like heartburn, shortness of breath,l, and higher heart rate feel super uncomfortable & like a panic attack is coming on. The only things that have helped keep me from spiraling is reminding myself that some of these uncomfortable feelings are a normal part of pregnancy , that my body can do this and how I feel physically is temporary. If I’m particularly anxious I created a nighttime routine for myself where I’ll put on my favorite podcast, drink some warm tea, take a magnesium supplement, and distract myself until my heart rate calms down. I know how scary panic attacks can be, I hope this helps. You’re strong and you will get through this!
Have you tried laying at an incline? I have never had a panic attack (I'm sorry you do😭😭) but I can tell you that at the end of both my pregnancies I can't breath for shit when I lay down. I usually am propped up on 2-3 pillows and on my side.
