Nursing Strike

My three month old has been combo fed (breastfeeding and bottle feeding with pumped milk) since she was two weeks old. All of a sudden she’s either refusing the breast altogether or nursing for a minute and then unlatching and refusing to latch again. Any ideas on what to do?

I was told (by my local infant feeding team) to try breast compressions to stimulate the milk flow and encourage her back to putting the effort in on the boob. I'd say I have a 50/50 success rate so it's not fool proof but might help if the reason is laziness/tiredness and relative ease of bottles

Are you pace feeding? Sometimes bottles are easier to get from so they prefer them

@Danielle Yeah we’re pace feeding and it was all fine until very recently. It’s driving me a little crazy 😂

@Nikki I’ll give this a try. Thanks

My advice is don’t force her, if she doesn’t want the breast anymore, don’t give it to her. She might like the teat on the bottles instead (sorry if I upset you) all babies are different, we have to try and suit their needs, she will still grow beautifully and healthy.
