Nope not for 12 hours

no, they asked me to fast

No

Nope, the test will not be useful or accurate if you’ve eaten

Nope, only thing you’re allowed is water. I took it to the extreme and had nothing for the 12 hours because I thought it meant no water too 🤷🏻‍♀️

Depends on the doctor mine let me eat 4 hours before my test but it had to be blan foods and stay away from sugars so I was able to eat eggs and toast that morning but again depends on the doctor

I'm taking my test tomorrow and was told to fast for 2 hours before hand

@Rena I find that mad, as I did have gestational diabetes and bread was one of the worst things to spike my sugars! X

I ate bread but maybe I wasn’t supposed to? It was my seed bread so not sure if that makes a difference. My test came out fine though 🤷🏻‍♀️

Interesting everyone said no - I was allowed to eat, it’s actually suggested that you eat a solid healthy meal (try for limited extra sugar: ie, minimal carbs and maybe not a piece of chocolate cake/donuts). I’ve heard the 1 hour you can eat, it’s the 3 hour you have to fast. I’d check with your doc to be sure!

Which one are you doing? It depends. I was told this; 1 hour test: no food for 1+ hours before 2 or 3 hour test: 12 hours fasting

Screw what they say you can’t go 12 hours only go 8 hours and I know people are going to tell me that’s wrong but being pregnant and not eating for 12 hours can make you dizzy and sick during the test I was told when I got there eat a very small amount of something with absolutely no sugar that way you have a little bit of something to not make you nauseous (this was for the 3 hours test)

I should mention I have borderline low sugar in the morning so if you wake up feeling dizzy or lightheaded it’s best to eat something I’d even say 4 hours before again just nothing with sugar I had a false positive glucose test so if at all you feel like it’s inaccurate have them do it again.

Mine never told me not to eat beforehand and I ended up having caribou about an hour before the appointment which resulted in me failing. I would just stay away from anything sugary or jammed packed with calories

@Kai the 1 hour test

I was given a list of foods I could eat. Basically low sugar, high protein. I think I ate some Greek yogurt and maybe a bit of cheese.

Thank you ladies I appreciate it 🙏

Fastest from midnight the night before til 7/8am. CALL AND ASK YOUR OFFICE. some require fasting, some don't.

@Beth very interesting, thank you Beth! I messaged my doctor today, I am just waiting for her response.

@Rena toast is sugars. Carbs=sugars. Just as a heads up.

For me, I just made the appointment early af in the morning. 7am. Wake up with just enough time to get ready and go to the appointment. So my fasting time was my sleep time. Most labs will take you back immediately, especially if the techs are women.
